I think somewhere in Minneapolis at -30 and many times in MA at -20.
So not that cold, bit cold enough.

Funniest was also in Minneapolis, hit 32 one Feb day and people were coming out of the buildings ,without coats, in the summer like weather :)

I was TDY in Greenland in the 80's. It got to -80 F.

That's no cheating windchill either. Pure ambient temp.
Whoa!

I was thinking carbon dioxide freezes at -78 but that's Centigrade. Still though, holy mackerel go outside without your coat on to take the trash out, trip sprain your ankle.

Coldest i think it was, in the 70's in Washington state, the Columbia river froze completely across, at the Vantage crossing. Water mains were freezing in town. I thought someone said minus 40 or so. I was outside working at Hanford welding on fuel rod racks i think they were called. It lasted about a week then warmed back up to the teens.

Yeah, motorcyles can be cold. I was headed to my parent's house one Friday night, about 2/3 of the way there when it started snowing. Just after that the shifter fell off so I put a pair of vise grips on it, shifted into third, got it rolling and ran the last 30 miles in 3rd gear.

On the way home Sunday night I froze my tail off. I got home and just as I was getting into the shower to get warmed back up an elderly lady knocked on my door; she had a flat tire and wondered if I could help. She had a trunk full of used tires and I found myself running back and forth to a nearby service station with various tires strapped to the bike, trying to find one which would work. At least I got warmed up. :D

Probably 30-odd years ago my wife and I were riding back from Flagstaff, AZ to Phoenix and the rain turned to hail. Wasn't really "cold" because we were dressed for the rain, but man, that hail. Felt like the fronts of both shins were completely stripped of flesh. Had to stop under an overpass on I-17 and wait for the hail to turn back into rain again.

Back in the 70’s.. I was ice skating at the local frozen pond.. I was dressed in a snowmobile suit..I fell thru the ice, completely under and was dragged out by some others that were skating..
I had a 4 block walk to home.. the snowmobile suit was frozen stiff as I was nearing home.. I looked like that star fish on Sponge Bob Square Pants.!! Lol
Ahhh, the 70’s.. good times.!!

Decades ago a beaver trapper went through the ice. He made it back out, but apparently his wet clothes froze to the ice so that he couldn't get up. That's where his son found him.

His son caught the beaver, tanned it and mounted it on a hoop in memory of his father.
