Was crash 2 in the ditch? Anyways speaking of backing up cars and visibility another peeve of mine was my wife's old car it had that push button transmission contraption, in the winter, where I grew up, I used to open the door stick my head out to see where I'm backing up to, tried to do it with my wife's car it automatically went into park every time you opened the door. Recently when she was looking for new cars, hinting to me I should take her old one to replace my rusty almost 20 yr old hatchback beater, I shot that idea down in a second, I told her to gain my support especially considering the price of new cars these days your new car has to have two things 1 was a manually shifting transmission shifter (no push button contraption) and 2 was a factory tow package with wiring harness with smaller reasonable 5k or less cap. I got both and she got the car she desired including interior colors plus as a bonus a rant free husband every time I need to use her car.

Now you did, ruined it for all men. Using your wife's car always requires a rant.... just as it does after she uses yours and leaves crap all over the place (or wrecks it, twice now...) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

We give detailed last mile instruction for haulers to reach the farm but most use GPS and few listen.

Any normal vehicle and trucks no problem with GPS...

Problem is when a conventional with a 45' trailer takes the GPS route it's not possible to make the last turn so they have to blindly back out to the county road and all traffic stops plus every year some driver with limited comprehension takes out a street sign or neighboring mailboxes...

Why professional drivers would rely on a computer over actual onsite direction is beyond me.
I leave instructions for freight deliveries saying, that the Google address for my location is incorrect (which is true), and leave my phone number asking them to call before they deliver. Works for those that can read there dispatch sheet!

do you own a car newer then 2000? they almost all are on
Newest I own is an '06, and the dash lights are on only when the headlights are on. My wife's car is a '15 and I can't say I've noticed whether they're on all the time or not, don't drive it that much.

Our old cars, even the 50's ones, have FSD, lane change alarm, backup camera and all the other modern inconveniences.
It's called 2 people in a car. My wife is the backup camera by getting out and the lane change alarm (backseat driver

). FSD is when we switch drivers.
None have a touch screen.
GPS too I'd imagine. TURN HERE!! But can you disable that feature?

Had a rental car a few years ago that did that. As I recall, the "shifter" was some sort of joystick. I liked that feature almost as much as you did.

After the first time, I learned, and tend to agree with the age old saying happy wife happy life. 😂

Is this something new? What kind of vehicle is that?
I've owned at least 15 vehicles in the last 20 years, from probably 10 different brands, and they've all behaved this way. It seemed to have become commonplace once they started adding LED or LCD speedo's to vehicles in the mid-1980's, as even my mom's 1986 minivan did this. My 1970's and early-1980's dash clusters went dark when turning off the headlights, but I can't remember many after that.
