GPS will ALWAYS take you into from the north down a STEEP gravel hill and across a low water bridge that has 4'+ water over it after a good rain. We try to convince people to come from the south if there is inclement weather but every one follows their GPS blindly to save 7 miles. Until they have turn a camper around on narrow gravel road and go 12 miles around to approach from the south.
Sometimes local knowledge is worth listening to....besides many map and GPS apps will turn you into a neighbors drive way and a fence. No cell service so you are on your own, can't call for directions after the fact.
We give detailed last mile instruction for haulers to reach the farm but most use GPS and few listen.

Any normal vehicle and trucks no problem with GPS...

Problem is when a conventional with a 45' trailer takes the GPS route it's not possible to make the last turn so they have to blindly back out to the county road and all traffic stops plus every year some driver with limited comprehension takes out a street sign or neighboring mailboxes...

Why professional drivers would rely on a computer over actual onsite direction is beyond me.

It's extremely simple to follow the turn by turn directions to here. It's one turn off the main highway (assuming they find the correct one - there aren't many around here) and one mile down the road.

Yet people insist on using their GPS and generally end up 10 miles down the road. I've gotten used to go finding them, which can be a bit tricky when they've turned around, driven past a second time, and have no clue where they are.
Every morning I get calls from people trying to find the hospital... they enter in a 4 digit street number instead of the 5 digit number and end up on the other end of town.

I'm guilting if saying shorted out when what I should say is the circuit shorted and over heated melting the conductor so now it's open...

Just easier to say it shorted out...

Our old cars, even the 50's ones, have FSD, lane change alarm, backup camera and all the other modern inconveniences.
It's called 2 people in a car. My wife is the backup camera by getting out and the lane change alarm (backseat driver ). FSD is when we switch drivers.
None have a touch screen.

I think that every time someone pontificates about all the warning, nagging and control of modern cars. At least she does not grab the wheel or slam the brakes very often.

That's he latest trick my Grand Cherokee has learned. My wife broke her ankle in Sept. and will be in a wheelchair for another month. I've been backing into the garage as it's easier to get her in and out of the front seat. The car is frequently slamming on the brakes while I'm backing into the garage and then I'm scolded for jerking her neck.

Someone should start a thread how to drive in the winter. Consider it a public service meme, Or I'll just make it another one of my peeves. Why are there dozens of cars in the ditch especially in somewhat hazardous early winter weather? Why don't they teach drivers Ed in the winter? Why do some folks think if the speed limit is posted at 55 they need to go 60+ in a white out blizzard? Meanwhile I'm white knuckling it pushing 45 with a 3/4 ton 4x4. is it Cuz they have AWD? Rants over and unfortunately if you are one of the yahoos that passed me only to end up in the ditch a mile later im not nice enough to pull you out.

A few years ago I was headed down the interstate when a sedan with two women in it flew by and out of sight past an overpass. Suddenly I saw a big cloud of white; it was amazing how high it went. When I got there they were way at the bottom of the ditch but both women were out of the vehicle. There also was an older Yukon pulled over and two more people headed down to the car. The SUV license plate was “CRASH 1” so I figured they had it under control and kept driving.
