I totally agree with jjeff, but unfortunately Jeff agreed to a reman transmission when he signed the dotted light when he purchased the truck. It is part of the warranty statement written in not consumer friendly language. And to the statement about a car insurance company using reman or used parts on a new car. Yep that would happen also because it is in the fine print of the insurance policy
Coming from somebody that has worked warranty issues on lawnmowers and small engines for close to 30 years, you would be surprised what easter eggs are hidden in warranty guidelines, and what the dealer that everybody likes to blame is stuck with honoring.
So in Jeff's case, the dealer would determine that an oil line failed leading to failure of the transmission. The dealer would then need to submit all kinds of paperwork and pictures to the OEM. The OEM would then review what the dealer sent and agree to ship a transmission to the dealer at no cost. Dealer installs transmission supplied by OEM and then has to ship the old transmission back within most likely 30 days or they get billed for the replacement transmission. So the dealer makes labor only, with no income from transmission. Will make a few bucks off of the transmission oil maybe if not already factory filled.
