I totally agree with jjeff, but unfortunately Jeff agreed to a reman transmission when he signed the dotted light when he purchased the truck. It is part of the warranty statement written in not consumer friendly language. And to the statement about a car insurance company using reman or used parts on a new car. Yep that would happen also because it is in the fine print of the insurance policy

Coming from somebody that has worked warranty issues on lawnmowers and small engines for close to 30 years, you would be surprised what easter eggs are hidden in warranty guidelines, and what the dealer that everybody likes to blame is stuck with honoring.

So in Jeff's case, the dealer would determine that an oil line failed leading to failure of the transmission. The dealer would then need to submit all kinds of paperwork and pictures to the OEM. The OEM would then review what the dealer sent and agree to ship a transmission to the dealer at no cost. Dealer installs transmission supplied by OEM and then has to ship the old transmission back within most likely 30 days or they get billed for the replacement transmission. So the dealer makes labor only, with no income from transmission. Will make a few bucks off of the transmission oil maybe if not already factory filled.

Never intentionally agreed to a remanned transmission especially on a brand new truck. Nor have I rarely said anything negative about the GMC brand until now and how there trying to handle this. I've owned/ currently own 3/4'ton also with the 6.6 for almost 10 yrs. One thing I've learned is never make a red head upset my wife is furious over how this truck is being dealt with by the dealership. unfortunately I'm unintentionally good at it in completely different situations. Lol

All I can say, is GM has the same warranty on remanufactered parts as it does new parts, meaning from strictly the actual transmission, there is no difference between new and remanned.

You don't want to hear this, and I dont mean it in a bad way, but I dont know why they even told you it is a remanufactered transmission. They probably should have said "we replaced the transmission under warranty" and you would never know the difference.

Maybe the replacement remanufactured transmission was rebuilt from the same failure on another truck at 700 miles?
Don’t, convince yourself it has umpteen miles on it, you’ll only drive yourself crazy.
I’ve seen many, many , cases of used mechanical components lasting longer than the newer ones mated to them.

Am I being unreasonable demanding a brand new transmission on a brand new truck and not remanufactured components?
I agree with you 100% but unfortunately unless you pay major $$ in lawyers fees and wait 'till the cows come home you're going to be stuck with the reman. All the cards are in the dealers favour, doesn't matter the money you spent on a vehicle. Lawyers and car dealers are dug up from the same cesspool.

Long peeve and questions so read accordingly recently bought a GMC 1/2'ton sle crew cab paid more for it than my 3/4 ton 10 yrs ago. Understand inflation etc. However the 10 speed automatic blew a transmission line driving down the freeway didn't notice a spike in transmission temp on display, did notice a bit of smoke coming from the rear of the truck, stubbornly figured it was it's first regen on the 3.0 pulled into a wayside cuz my youngest had to use the facilities. Cab filled up with transmission fluid smoke. Underneath looked like the exon valdez grounded there. Called gm roadside assistance they don't haul trailers, I was towing a small single axle maybe weighed 2k total 50 miles from my home. So called a friend gave me a ride home picked up my wife's kia drove back picked up and hauled trailer home. In the process had to disconnect trailer and move truck by then I could feel the transmission was slipping already. Anyways Finally got it towed to the Dealership we bought if from a week ago has informed us they would not replace transmission with a new OEM one rather a remanufactured one. Both wife and I are livid considering the truck has 700 miles on it. Wondering what's our options if any here. Wife already made it clear we would not accept a remanufactured transmission on a brand new truck. Especially considering the tech disclosed openly it was gms fault for improperly installing a transmission line. So I'm peeving at the dealership and GM. Anyone know what I need to do to get a brand new transmission? Dealership is apparently lying to us saying they can't get a brand new transmission from gm. Is this true? Funny thing is if that truck had a transmission dip stick I probably would have added a couple quarts of atf to move it 30 feet to get my trailer off that gm roadside refused to tow. Nor would they give me a time when the truck would get picked up. So I went there on my own to get trailer subsequently had to move that truck 30 ft. I guess if your paying a lot of money for a brand new vehicle and the transmission fails at 700 miles shouldn't they be obligated to replace a new truck with a brand new transmission that failed due to manufacture defect or I'm I missing something here?.
I had a similar thing happen many years ago with a brand new GMC Safari van. It overheated driving it home, 40 miles on it. My lawyer said call bank, stop payment on my check, give dealer keys saying come get YOUR van. Which I did.
Like an idiot I wrote another check & picked it up a few days later. I told them I'm sure it warped the heads...they said no way. A couple weeks later I saw coolant on oil dipstick, oil in coolant. They tow it in...had heads milled, new gaskets. Then at about 1,100 miles differential sounded like a meat grinder. They tow it in replacing gears. Dealership Owner says " I don't know who the h*** does your service work but rear end didn't have a drop of grease in it!".
I was ready...
I had owner's manual...
I said "I'll tell you who. YOU did. Look at the inspection page and 1,000 mile service...YOUR service department manager signed it!!!
His face turned beet red.
I traded in that lemon.
As other's said I talk to an attorney. You paid for a new truck...not a reman!
I'm so sorry this is happening. Buying new shouldn't be a misery.

A former coworker drove 100 miles to a Ford dealer with his 4 kids in tow, and bought a new F150. (This was around 1993)
They headed up the highway in his brand new truck and about 10 miles out "the engine blew"... I suspect the oil plug dropped out the way he described it.
They towed it back to the dealer where he tore up the paperwork and bought a new Dakota which he drove for the rest of the time I knew him.

So another peeve is all these online maintenance and accident apps out like car fox etc etc will it show up as a remanufactured transmission was put in truck at 700 miles? If so That's got to hurt the resale?

Unfortunately checks cashed and cleared. I'm very close to going down there and giving that idiot sales manager a piece of my mind. Maybe some one will chime in with dealing with a angry customers like me as there pet peeve I feel justified to be quite peevy though. 😂
