Kubota L3200 (2012)
I like the basic size of the B series.... good for my pupose, I think, of crawling around in my woods and clearing things. The tire size looks right and the ground clearance, too.

The B2620 look like an economical option.

The John Deere dealer is very, very convenient to me....and would rather have a nearby dealer. Online, I'm not quite finding anything that compares, but it's a clumsy web site. The smaller JD tractors have wheels that are far too tiny up front.

You might want to post this on the JD site. In my opinion there is no comparison to the Kubota!

Not sure which JD models compare, but;

My Kubota dealer is one hour away, and worth the drive.

My John Deere dealer is 5 minutes away. The Kubota is 30 minutes.

Regardless, surely there will be someone here who knows... roughly ... the kinds of JD tractors that are designed to compete at the level of the B-standard series.

Thanks for the quick responses, though... very cool!

The JD 2520 would be comparable. I think you'll find a few more deluxe features on the JD, including position control versus Kubota's quarter inching. In my area, the John Deeres are substantially more money than the comparable Kubota. Both excellent tractors, so check out both brands and see which has the features you want and 'fits' you better.

Beware of the color blind people of all brands. Might even want to look at several other brands in your area.... you might be surprised at what you find.

The local Deere dealer is 5 minutes from my place, and I have given them business in the past, but my recent purchase was a Kubota B2920 from a dealer 50 minutes away. I just liked the price and features of the Kubota better.

The counterpart to the Kubota B2320/2620/2920 would be the Deere 2320, 2520, 2720. They are very good tractors, and have 2-3 features that are better than the Kubotas (like position control). But the Kubota has some compelling features too, like the three-range transmission and more metal in the bodywork. Check them all out, consider price/value, and see which one you like best. You honestly can't go wrong either way.

From what I can tell, the front wheels on the Kubota B has taller front wheels. The John Deere site will let your "build your own" 2520, but can't find any info or brochure type stuff on it.

It does appear to be priced a little high.... closer to the B2630 rather than the B2620.

The budget minded Kubota 2620 doesn't have a direct JD comparison, in my mind. The JD 2520 is a deluxe tractor and matches up better with Kubota's 30 series B.

Here is a link to a brochure. JD's website is clumsy at best. It used to be an easy to use site. JD dealers tend to discount quite a bit off list, so you may want to get a quote from a couple of dealers.

When I was looking at Kubota L3200-3800 models, I did look at the JD equivalent. The JD was smaller, had shorter tires, less ground clearance, had plastic hood and fenders, loader did not remove as quick and easy as Kubota and the cockpit was smaller.

I went with the L3800 and could not be happier.

Best advise I can give, is to go look at both green and orange in person and pick the one you like best.

I'm finding that the JD 2620 with FEL loader is around $1,400 more than the Kubota B2620.... that's the discounted price offered by the dealers here. I do believe that this is a smaller difference than the difference between a B2620 and B2630 from Kubota.

Yes, it important when pricing one color against another to make fair and honest matchups, as best you can. Deere only produces deluxe models in that size range. Kubota offers two. The budget minded 20 series and more deluxe featured 30 series. Any comparison between Deere and Kubota brings into play certain design philosophy differences. In the end, they are both top drawer builders in quality. Go with what suits you best and the dealer that also makes you most comfortable. You aren't gonna go wrong either way.

A good Kubota dealer is even farther away in Athens, TN. ( Dooley's Tractor Co. Inc. Athens TN- Tractor Is Our Middle Name )

The T-brothers in Maryville failed to earn my return business. I was very disappointed in them to the point that a Regional Manager tried to make things right, and still no dice. Nothing but Snake-eyes. I still travel to Athens to get my fluids and filters. Otherwise, I bought the Kubota brand to keep me out of a service bay. Been six years since I have called upon a service man, so distance is not a consideration to me.

Ok, let me ask this...

If you buy from the far away dealer (of any brand), can you bring it to the closer, local dealer and expect to get proper service? ... or is there some advantage to buying from the same place that you expect to get serviced?

A dealer has to honor a manufactureres warranty...... the problem is they don't always need to do it in a timely fashion. I would be willing to pay a little more at a dealer with a great customer service reputation, than a price-only dealer that offers poor customer service. Trick is.... finding the right balance..

I would buy from a "long distance" dealer, such as Barlow's Kubota, in So. Kentucky, and a few others who specialize in longer distance sales and support. Not every dealer is set up or accustomed to doing this. Buying from a dealer, just two dealerships away, and then asking the local guy to service a warranty issue is stickier stuff sometimes. I'd not expect any super duper, go the extra mile type service. It would be asking a lot. I'd expect to ultimately get service, but I would also expect to be from the end of the longest line.
