What is best Weed Eater for woman?

For hand held trimmers it doesn't matter if 2 or 4 stroke they're all temperamental cold. Even the Honda I own. The DR I have with Brigs just push full throttle and pull one or two times. Hot, cold or sitting for 3 months it doesn't matter. Easiest starting gas engine I've ever owned.

who goes a-weed-whacking in the cold? Does your lawn grow in cold? Mine doesn't.

One other thing that stringed grass whips need to be woman friendly is an easy way to put new windings in. Neither the Porter Cable 20v one nor the Kobalt 40v ones we have are friendly. You have to rewind the line by hand. The Kobalt has 2 lines that wind simultaneously. No woman friendly. Need to be able to buy rewind inserts.

Every other time I use the Kobalt, I have to put new windings in it.

Ok now this needs to be studied by academics. I thought it was just my wife. She can start and run the gas trimmer just fine but when it comes time to mix gas or load the spool, I have to get involved. What's up with that? Loading a trimmer spool is not rocket science. Anyone who can feed themselves without assistance should be able to manage it. But not women? Makes no sense. I guess the capacity for complex emotions and the ability to read other people's minds (and resultant expectation of it working in the reverse direction) comes at a heavy (and peculiar) cost.

I wonder how many of you guys can thread a sewing machine? I bet the thought sends chills up your spine and you go whimpering to the wife for help. Come on, who can feed themselves now?

I don't have a wife. Can I borrow one of yours? :D

Excellent point. Anyone who can thread a sewing machine should be doubly capable of threading a weed eater. You can find agreement in the strangest of places.

No, you can't borrow my wife. Get your own if you want one. But consider the operating costs first.

Gave a Dewalt 20V to both my wife and daughter. both are very happy with them.
Probably ANY battery one would be better than a gas one for them.
Who wants a unhappy wife...
DEFINITELY NOT a DeWalt FlexVolt. It's a great wheedwacker and I trim brush with it, but it's fairly long.

Cold start is when an engine has cooled down to ambient temperature. Hot start obviously when an engine is warm from running and hand held wackers start easier. We have a real farm and there's always weeds or grass someplace around buildings, ponds fences, etc. Up until it's too cold to work outside. The DR Trimmer on wheels for me works because I've lost arm strength and hand held wackers wear me out quickly. Plus even the best hand held gas wackers can be tempermental to start. Looked at the price of electric whackers capable of a grass blade and Wow!

When temps drop here grass goes into overdrive up until multiple freezes.

I had a Ryobi 4 cycle weed whopper once. Started good, yeah, but my wife wouldn't be able to start it. Is the DR one people are talking about like the little Ryobi or the one on wheels? Had a DR weed whopper on wheels. Almost impossible to use because it wasn't self propelled. They have self propelled ones now. Another one no wife could use. The plastic whips were so easy to whip out, too. Anything hard would yang them.

The Ryobi I've seen has small wheels and small engine with conventional string head. The DR has a wide head that doesn't string wrap like others and will take up to heavy .175 inch string. Just like any string trimmer possible to break string off on something like rebar but will not pull out of head. Got 16 inch ball bearing wheels on mine and it rolls very easy. We use it for trimming only and no issues pushing. If used for weed mowing larger area or on slopes self propelled would be nice. The Brigs engine might have compression release because it pulls easier that my Stihls.

Buy the string the professional cutters use and store it in a bag with a little water and string breaking will be minimal.

Don't think many women can start a motor driven weed eater.

I'm a woman and I have never had any problems starting my echo srm230. It has lasted well over 10 years. But I also run my stihl 310 saw with a 20" bar and I ran my husqvarna 55 rancher (20" bar) for years cutting firewood for my outdoor wood burner. Having your equipment in good running order makes starting it a lot easier. Also, just saying that all women are not the same. Some of us run equipment just like you guys and some of us don't...just like you guys.

Love my makita lxt tool line, too. Plus 1 for Makita.
