I'm a woman and I have never had any problems starting my echo srm230. It has lasted well over 10 years. But I also run my stihl 310 saw with a 20" bar and I ran my husqvarna 55 rancher (20" bar) for years cutting firewood for my outdoor wood burner. Having your equipment in good running order makes starting it a lot easier. Also, just saying that all women are not the same. Some of us run equipment just like you guys and some of us don't...just like you guys.

Love my makita lxt tool line, too. Plus 1 for Makita.

Wow! I'd say you're a self-sufficient woman. Not typical by any definition, but absolutely my hat's off to you.

...like I have always told my 4'10" grown daughter - Girls can do ANYTHING.

If I had 6 hours of trimming a week, I would be looking at changing that. I have a half hour of trimming and hate doing it.

As to the tool, with that much trimming, do you trim in six, one hour sessions, or three two hour sessions. Most battery tools will not run more than 45-60 minutes on one battery.

Lastly, have your wife make the finial selection if she is the primary user. You are lucky to have a woman that will help out. My fiancé has never trimmed or taken the rider out to cut the grass. If I was laid up, she would do it so I am looking at getting equipment she can easily operate. A battery trimmer is on the list as is a ZT mower. Case in point, I had her test drive a Country Clipper with the joy stick and she loved it. It has moved to the top of the ZT list.

Wife hybridizes flowers as a hobby. Recently she weed wacked 1.25 acres of flowers with the DR Trimmer. Not bad for someone 65. Try that in one afternoon with a heavy straight shaft hand held. Only 3 string changes using .155 commercial string.

Here's a photo of 3 of the 7 beds.

I used to do it for her before I got cancer. Don't have the energy to do it now. Perhaps next year strength will be back. Years past we did it with straight shaft Stihl trimmers with Poly Cut heads. Great product but they wear you out and vibration is bad. Need to trim between plants in the rows so something like a weed wacker is needed. The beds were cut at 8 inches with a bush hog first.

The 12 foot high grass on the left is our living snow fence. Come spring we will shred it with the rotary cutter.
