So far, in Etna, NH, I haven't had top start the LRB in below zero temps... but it has started up without using the block heater on the 3-4 occasions I've needed it. That is a big improvement!

I think that, due to the new battery, the combination of having more good, old-fashioned AMPS for the glow plugs plus a decent reserve for cranking at a more appropriate RPM has made the difference. It's certainly more convenient now!

Looks like our tractors will get workout over the next week -- weather people are using the term "Nor'easter" in a warning fashion for this weekend. For those not from this area, that's when a major storm crawls up the east coast, dumping heavy precipitation from the Carolinas to Maine (and beyond).

Maybe not like when I was a kid and 2 feet+ was a "pretty good one," this one looks like it'll be in the 12" plus range, no slouch. Gear up!

I hope the trend, of you guys getting all the snow continues.

But,it looks like it may be time for 5" or more here.

Today I spent 3 hours outside with my little GC cleaning up my yard a bit after the the bulldozer and monster size loader I had to hire got done. The snow and wind left a drift down the full length of my driveway that was about 8 feet deep at its peak. I now have 12+ foot banks on 3 sides of my driveway.

Cannot wait for this winter to be over.

I did the same yesterday -- cleaning up stuff. It was nice to see the sun, though that darn wind was still cold! We didn't have nearly the drifts (or the amount of snow) you folks had, but I still love my blower -- no high snowbanks on the sides of an ever-narrowing driveway!

Also spent some time cleaning up a neighbor's walkways. She can't do it, and her "shovel" person is laid up so she had to deal with plow truck leftovers. She couldn't believe it only took the LRB & blower about 5 minutes to chew through 2 feet+ of "old" snow....

And my battery -- Yep, shouldda changed that a long time ago, I've learned. It was just a bit below zero yesterday AM, and with no block heater or any other assistance, she started up relatively easily....

I spent almost 3 minutes shoveling the walk to the front door.

I did not plow the 4 inches of snow in my driveway, the wind took care of most of it.

Figured you guys got buried, since no one posted for a while.

I'm interested in seeing the pictures.

We had over 48 hours of 30+ MPH winds with gusts over 50, add in the snow it was just too much to keep up with, the drifts where filling in as fast as I could move them and I gave up. When it was done, like I said, I called for help. Luckily, there is a construction/excavation company 2.5 miles from me that we've known for years and he didn't need to truck the equipment, he just drove them over.

The GC would have fit in the bucket of the loader they brought, I wasn't paying attention to what it was but it was NH Blue, just looking at pictures now I'd say it was a T7. They did push the banks back a fair way and as long as we don't get another big storm I should be okay. It was like watching a dance with the bulldozer pushing snow into the loader bucket. Took them a hour to do with their equipment what would probably take me a week to accomplish. Well worth what it cost me.

But they did leave a mess i needed to clear up to be able to actually get the cars in and out. 3 hours to move the snow their loader could probably have moved in 2 to 4 scoops. 😛

In NH, we only got about 6-7 inches, but it did drift! I had one spot in a corner that was about 30" deep, but glad we didn't have to deal with the lake-effect snow you guys did. I was watching it on the radar as the storm ended. How much snow do you have on the ground now? (We have about 18" or so).

I did not realize that lake Ontario doesn't usually freeze.

Our snow machine has been frozen over for a while.

I got about 4-5 but the 2 days of 30mph winds hurt. started final cleanup yesterday, today I will finish my property then widen the end of the road.

edit: also its time to toss chains on, often (last 2 seasons) can get away w/o them but the type of conditions this year...yup tossing them on now just taking a break.

Yeah, Ray, Ontario has been horrendous the past few winters with lake-effect snow. Occasionally, it even makes it across NY and over the Greens in VT to our location in the CT River valley -- at least that's the way it seems. Fortunately, however, by then it's pretty much petered out so we only get a few inches -- but places in NY near the lake have been absolutely buried.

blew the sidewall out of left front R1 tire. lucky I still had the org R4 tire here. my tire shop tried not charging me so I tipped them 20$ to split between the 4 guys as they bumped me in front of others.
so presently I have 14yr old R4 tires on it, this summer all new tires going on. probably carlisles.
taking break before putting tire back on and finish clearing yard and road.

Any idea what caused the sidewall to blow out ?

I've had troubles with both of my front tires, probably from rubbing up against rocks. They've both been replaced, and I've had tubes put in. Also went so far as to buy an extra wheel/tire/tube for the inevitable late Friday afternoon problem. : (

I am not gentle on stuff.
cheap tire and ice rubbing most likely.
got slightly stuck yesterday and sidewalls took ton of abuse in (I mean in) a snowbank.
fronts take a lot of abuse due to weight of loaded bucket on a 10 inch rim.

edit: set of Carlisle WT300 18/8.50-10 ordered for fronts. have some deestone 10ply superlugs for rears, not in use as approx 1" shorter than the R4 tires (on subcompact that little bit makes difference) but if I blow a rear I can just get those swapped on.
just need to have stuff on hand for fronts, and in Maine getting stuff can be time consuming.

There has been no new posts since Saturday. Is this thing still working?

Well for once I got you guys beat! I pulled the blower, installed the FEL, and proceeded to pull out the snow pile around my bulkhead -- Once I get my wood in, I seal it up for the winter and don't bother to keep the snow off.

Might be a little premature, but I think spring is on the way! Oops... until I saw the forecast for this weekend... looks like another "Arctic Blast" with singe-digits above & below zero. Rats.

Tractor is sleeping. I'm getting a little break. 3 days without needing to move snow, 4 days if I'm right about tomorrow, that's a record for me this winter.
Looks to change, snow tonight, 1 inch predicted, wind is supposed to be light. If that works out I'll be able to leave it lay and get another day off.
I expect to need to move snow again on Friday morning and my vacation will be over. Another inch or so predicted but the wind will be back and gusting, 20 to 40 MPH, so that will drift it up, I'll have to get up early and move that so people can get out and then again in the afternoon so people can get in.
