Yeah, Dave I saw that! We only got 6"+ here in NH's Etna, but my buddy in Leeds sent some pics, looks like he got at least a foot!

Can't wait for this "mixed precipitation" event Sunday.... yuck!

Calling for rain/snow/sleet here, might be some plow work in the morning, or maybe not.
Ready either way.

last Feb 2025 needed battery for my generator so pulled the 10+ yr old napa legend out that was showing signs of age and used that on generator. put this everstart in GC2400 and it worked great through rest of winter (minus 0 days) and seemed ok. presently below 10 deg it craps out, no reserve. glow plugs kill it.
so new napa legend (same I pulled out) just picked up and will be installed tomorrow. its 10deg out, if needed I could boost and start fluid the tractor but not needed.
I could pursue the warranty but....it would test well at store. no way to prove it craps out after glow plug run at store.

at 10am it was 4 deg out. I plugged block heater in for 90 minutes and tractor did start at 6 deg F. was able to move it.
however due to medical issues not able to change fuel filter or swap battery out today. they both need to happen, one issue feeds other issue.catch22.
presently 13 out at 1330hrs and tractor is now sitting where I CAN work on it if needed. but it can wait.

I got home late this morning, popped on the BH ... My welding job is holding up good, even though it scorched the label!

Just a teaser shot ... In for a quick bite if pizza, then gonna get after it!

You're safe probably until Spring: we're iced in here in the Northeast. Fergie's safe in the shed for now, but she's still hoping for her much-delayed X-mas present.

Legend batteries were my second favorite for years, only beating out Interstate by a little. Last Legend on in my car, only went 4 years though, just like the Interstate before it. Which isn't bad. But, less than I expect.

I am currently trying out SuperStart from O'Rilleys.

The one in my GC has the record in there now, at 7 years, and going strong.

Yesterday I had the tractor in the garage to grease everything up and oil up the chain on the blower. We were supposed to get 6-10ā€ of snow. Got rain, sleet and a couple inches of snow. Ended up using the plow on the 314-8, which I also lubed up yesterday.

I can understand about Fergie liking to be tucked away in bad weather ... But I'm pretty sure you got a ripper tooth like I do ... I've been able to bust up 6"-8" of frozen ground with it!

My Little Baby Fergie is a workaholic, she don't like to sit idle for too long, always eager for a project when I open the barn doors!

I have a lot more pictures on this other thread ... https://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/threads/just-little-bites.604057/

But basically I went down to the creek to widen the crossing more ... Surprised that the first 15 minutes or so I could still smell the skunk I had buried with it, once I got the bucket wet, phew!

I think I'm almost finished with this little project. I've spent quite a few days on it. It might not show up too well but there's an awful lot of small trees in this little cluster of brush I'm trying to reclaim.

IMG_9398.jpeg

The backhoe has pulled up a number of tree clusters and nasty roots.

IMG_9638.jpeg

To be fair, I had to use a little orange to grab the material the Massey was digging up and box blade it to its current state.

Got Little Baby Fergie all greased up again, and took the BH off, and now have the rear blade on, ready for snow in case I come home in a snow storm or shortly thereafter, I can just grab the keys . . .

I can drive in with my pickup, but not my semi-truck ... I got stuck in my driveway last year with less than 6"! Batter Minder plugged in too ...

like the looks of that rear blade, looks like lot of room between blade and tractor and I bet lift height (due to geometry) is better than many.

Actually it's a CAT 1/2 blade border line too big, partly due to weight, but I can only get it up about 6' unless I really crank the top link shorter ...

It was a freebie I found out in the weeds after I bought this place, not sure if the previous owner forgot, or didn't want it, I put new lower pins in, but it's pretty sloppy worn out, but works! Weighs 396 Lbs and 72" ...

IMG_20220120_093004092_HDR.jpg

I have built a set of weight lifting plates to slide into the BH mounts that add 275 Lbs, which should help with traction, last year the 6" of wettish snow would try to crab walk us! These add weight directly to the tractor, so once the rear blade is on the ground (most of that weight is also on the ground!) along with the 70 Lb steel wheel weights, I shouldn't have any problems ...

I have a 7ft countyline given to me, use it often for snow but the lift height on subcompact leaves a bit to be desired :)
but price was right...
edit:
when not using blower I use bucket first with these on

Capture.JPG
and I run high speed then I use the 7ft blade to clean up.

That 7' blade is a lot less weight than my 6' no-name ... By more than 160 Lbs ... While 7' would be nice to have more than tire width clearance with my 3" spacers, I struggle with traction with my 6', now I just thought part of my problem is I'm dragging a lot more steel weight on the ground ... But this full blade of gravel, 4X4 and rear axle locked with WWF in the rear tires, plus a partial load in the bucket for weight, brought me to a stop spinning 3 tires!

IMG_20240412_084214854_HDR.jpg

Didn't take much damp clay based soil to push me sideways, even though I had added the 70 Lb steel wheel weights...

IMG_20250413_090815776.jpg

I then came up with the idea of putting a 3/4" black iron pipe through the BH frame, it a snug fit ... And then added 200 Lbs of 1" weight lifting dumbbell plates ... Conditions were a bit different, as I had finished scraping off the top thin layer of recently rained on dry ground ... I ended up digging with the BH, and front bucket, pilling it up, and pulverize it with the rototiller, but I could start and stop in the middle of the pile, once I added those plates! (But I tried it 1st without the plates, and it would just spin!)

IMG_20250415_095117454_HDR.jpg

I have since acquired another 75 Lbs of plates ... They greatly increase TRACTION, as once any rear attachment is set on the ground, you loose the benefit of that weight on the tires ...

honestly if I were buying new would go 5ft or maybe 6ft on subcompact then weight it as needed. this light 7ft will drag me around when angled and blade full of wet stuff. do most of blade work backing though so it will bleed off w/o trapping rear tires.
am running 2" spacers, and mid mount mower is really close. didn't think 3" would work.
but 7ft is just too wide, however it was free so...

I understand "free" ... We just make it work the best we can ... The rear blade is a tad small for my CUT, which I've used it on, but a 8' would be much better!

My mid mount mower is on my Z-turn! 😁

have used this 7ft on the MF1532 with blocks on it, sized well for that :)
