My HST speed control is not holding. When I set it, it starts slipping and the tractor slows down. Does anyone know how to adjust it?

The cruise lever on my Cub is like a brake. I needed to adjust it to hold the pedal tight for cruise. Check your cruise lever for an adjustment.

I imagine that your cruise control is much like my CK20HST.
There is a rod coming down from the control in back and you will see some adjusting nuts on it near the bottom. Loosen those jam nuts, moving one up on the rod so that it causes the control to be tighter. Then retighten the jam nut onto the one you moved up. So that you get an idea of which way to do it, look behind the instrument panel, move the control lever and watch the action of the rod. You will see how it pulls and then can adjust it for a tighter cruise. John

Thats's just what I did John , but after just 2 -3 turns of the nut, it stoped working altogether. So, I went the other way with the nut, and it got loose and didn't even pull the rod any.

I had the same problem in the beginning, but I was able to adjust it out. After you turned it two or three turns and it stopped, did you try the control again to see what difference, if any, it made? John
Edit: one more thing, look to see if it looks as though you could turn the rod itself to change it's position. Don't do too much and be careful about scarring anything as you don't want to void the warranty. J

let me guess...this only happens in hi range, correct?

No, mid range is what I was in. I'm not sure about other ranges though.

On my CK20H, the cruise only works correctly in low range, and it does exactly as you described in hi range...i've not had the time to investigate adjusting it as John described...sounds like a weekend project!

I think it took me all of 10 minutes. John

My new CK30's cruise is doing the samething. Works OK in low range but when it's set in mid or hi range the tractor slows to a stop. Did you manage to get it adjusted so it works right?
I just read KiotiJohn's post and will try to adust it tomorrow to get it to hold.
