What else do you do with forks besides lift pallets?

I have pulled and set several engines with a forklift. Mine has side to side hydraulic forks and it works great. Forks make a good adjustable height welding table too.

Temp welding table is a great idea for a difficult operation plus I have a weld blanket to toss over the front of the forks to protect the tractor and loader. This list keeps growing.

The old order guy that loaded my forks used a gas powered skid steer but was carrying a two way radio and wearing a western cowboy hat. I felt like I was in the Amish twilight zone.

Times are a changing and the Amish are too I guess.

To wrap up this thread, I bought a set of 3500 lb rated forks rather than the lighter set. Seems it's always better to buy overbuilt rather than underbuilt.

The forks are great and so far I moved some huge rocks around, moved some equipment and put a 1000 lb axle in the back of a Ford van. That was an iffy one and I didn't ask how he was going to get it out. Lastly, I used it to lift a pallet and nearly ripped it to shreds because I had the forks pointed a little low. I guess that's a learned trait. Forks are a must have.
Anyway, I don't know how I got along without forks in the past.

I bought it from Mast Farm Service in Millersburg, OH. it's a mostly Amish welding business (go figure) that does some of the finest welding and fabrication I have ever seen and they are a pleasure to do business with. I have one of their Deere to QSSA adapters. Their work looks flawless and prices honest.
