This will sound stupid, but there is a knob on my 2555 that is not mentioned in either the owners or service manual and I have no idea what it does. It's a small triangular knob that is near the load adjustment knob for the seat and above the drop speed control knob for the 3-point. I think it has something to do with the seats load adjustment but that's just a guess.

Can anyone tell me what this does and how it works? I would really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,
Uncle Hulka

Maybe a picture will help someone id the knob. I am not familiar with your model so could only guess.

That is the injection seat arming knob ! Just kidding. Is it the seat adj. forward and back?

Don't have a picture that shows the knob on my tractor, but I found a pic of a 2555 Cab that does show what I'm talking about. You can see it just above the decals below the seat.

Hope this helps, and thanks for any help.

No, the seat is adjusted front to back with a small lever directly under the seat cushion.

By the way, this triangular knob rotates. It is not a pull-type.

My tractor has a similar knob. On mine the triangle shaped knob is for the seat height adjustment. There is also a seat weight (or suspension) adjustment plus forward and back adjustment.

There are 3 knobs shown in the picture I uploaded. From top to bottom:

1) This larger knob is used to set the weight of the operator.

2) This smaller knob is the knob in question.

3) This larger knob sets the drop speed of the 3-point.

Beat me to it uncle. I believe the knob op questioned is the rate of drop adjustment on 3 pt hitch

As the OP I can confirm that it's not the drop rate adjustment.

If it's the knob between center seat and floor then you got me.
That's where mine is on JD1025

I looked closely I can see the knob I have no idea. Does Anything happen when you turn it.

If you tractor is equipped with a AUX valve the knob is your slow return valve. It is an option.

Thanks for your input, Jabonee, but I'm not sure I understand. By AUX valve, do you mean rear remote hydraulics? I have a remote, but that's it as far as options. Can you tell me more please?

I think George2615 answered your question back at #6. It's in the base of the seat, and makes sense that it would limit the amount of seat travel.

I was looking through the service man. found a reference for it for removing the trans. I think its an option to control the flow of your rear aux. Did you buy this tractor new?

After investigating, it looks as though the mystery has been solved. From what I can tell using trial and error, is appears that this knob sets the initial height of the seat itself. Allows a shorter, lightweight operator to position the seat lower.

I guess this effectively limits the seat travel.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in to help solve the puzzle!!!
