Just had to chime in here today.
Starting at midnight: I was 3 hours from quitting time at work. Got off at 3AM. Rolled out of bed at 8AM. Got the ry e grass hay off one of our meadows and stacked at the house. Carried 3 rolls up town to get an average weight (~1200#). Got the mail while I was in town and ate lunch w/ the owner of the local Feed & Fertilizer store. Got home and dropped the GN so the truck would be ready to ferry me to work. Finally installed the new belt on the lawnmower. Returned a couple of calls pertaining to some PC work. Then I helped the wife on her chicken run until time to pack a lunch and head to work (have to be here by 430PM). All in all a fairly productive day, but boy do I feel the need for a nap.

Tough life, Chief! :D

Retired life is treating you fine. Keeping your mind sharp thinking of all the stuff you used to do, still could do, but enjoy watching someone else do.

GO NAVY... life is good! You know your getting old when you review the FY-08 E-9 and E-8 selection results and don't recognize any names? Oh well... plenty of sweet tea on the screen porch watching BIG Tractors work the farm and pay the taxes!

Went to an 80th birthday party.
The 3rd one in 3 weeks.
Got about a mile from the party and my Dodge D50 started making a funny noise.
Looked down and the temperature gauge was reading way up on hot almost to the red zone.
Pulled over and checked under the hood.
No broken fan belts or busted water hoses.
No water leaks.
Figured the Thermostat must have stuck shut.
Wife called the party hostess on our cell phone and someone from the party came and took us on to the party.
Hung around at the party for a couple of hours Then the people who came and picked us up took us to AutoZone where I got a new thermostat and a gasket for it.
We went back to the truck and installed it and filled the radiator back up.
Fired the truck up and drove it home without incident.
Works a lot better without a stuck thermostat.

We went to an old car show down town.
These 4 cars really caught our eyes.
1950 Chevy
Black 1960 Chevy Impala.
1973 Mustang convertible purchased new in 1973 by A girl I grew up with and have known all my life. I probably hadn't seen this car for over 25 years.Didn't even know if she still had it until a few months ago.
Mercury Cougar that was owned by her dad many years ago. Don't know who owns it now.

My first car was a 50 Chevy I got back in 1958 when I was 17 years old.
I bought a black 1960 Chevy Impala Convertible back in 1962. It was also our first car when we got married in 1964.

Enjoyed Father's Day with a surprise visit from my youngest daughter :D . It's always nice to have your children home, even for just a little while.

Love the old car shows too. My first car was a '50 DeSoto (Custom Deluxe). Loved working on that flat head 6 (indestructible), and won lots of bets demoing shifting with no clutch (early stage of auto trans with fluid drive) eventhough it had a clutch and three on the tree.

Wish I still had that beast.

Nothing like cars from the past! I own a full toolbox thanks to owning a 1977 MGB for a few years... ALWAY had a toolbox in the boot! Head gasket changes were easy after the first two!

Prepared wood for some kitchen drowers I need to build. Resawed it on the band saw and pushed it through planer, made it nice and clean and square for jooinery work.

Using maple knocked down by Isabella - I ripped it with my chainsaw logmill years ago and now it is seasoned and ready to be used. Really enjoying myself, I should do woodworking more often:)

A week ago, my SO took me away from the family, job and farm for two days.

I had no honey dues, no electronic gizmos, and no stress. It was, interesting.

Ihad access to a TV and didn't tune anything in. We enjoyed the weather and each others company. Someone had lined up activites, but they soon fell by the wayside.

I must say, I enjoyed doing nothing. It was most refreshing.

Of course the darn place we went to, gave us numerous ideas for ours. Darn it.

:)

And, yes, I realize it was a week ago and this topic says today, but I still have not caught up.... :)
