Not at all. It's fully automatic. You basically, lift it up and it will flip on it's own. Pretty cool system and works very well. You can also lock it, so it won't flip to the other side if you don't need it to.

I have a little video showing that on mine:

Very smart! Have you seen any 2 bottoms that do that or are they hydraulic only?

I'm not looking seriously yet, maybe in a few years. I have R1's, I'd never have a tractor with r4's unless all it was for was loader work!
I have a 65" disk that with the weights on it weighs 950 and it has gotten deep into some soil and pulled it just fine in 4wd so I am pretty sure a 2-10 or 2-12 plow should be fine, a 3 bottom may be too much.
Oh my bad. I keep seeing new tractors in the US with the R4's and the your avatar picture almost looked like R4. I assumed wrong and I apologize.

Personally, I don't see the point of R4's either. The tractor looses a bunch of capabilities right away. Either R1 or R1 Radials are my choice and can handle the loads these compact tractors see just fine.

I think you'll be fine too with one of those plows.

Yes, there are two bottoms with a similar trip mechanism as well. These are mostly old plows. All of the new ones are hydraulic since most tractors just come with remotes from factory these days.

Dug up a stump today, only about 10" in diameter, but was still fresh.... actually started growing new sprouts around the outer ring. At least the roots were easy to dig / rip out. I was expecting a few hours for the job, but start to finish was only an hour! CA0FF412-29EA-417E-83D3-118F798EFFB8.jpeg1A347D32-3C6C-4B7E-8C8B-09C1CEC7AD66.jpeg

Repaired the third (or is it the fourth?) fuel leak. I think I've done every hose on the left side now. All the same, cracked/split right at the nipple and hose clamp.

Recently noticed that sometimes the outside control for the 3 point system doesn’t want to start working until I futz with it and when the outside control starts acting up so does the inside control, then after a little futzing around everything goes back to normal. Has anyone else experienced this issue and actually figured out what’s causing it to happen ? So far it hasn’t caused any big problems.

Well I had recently moved the draft control lever and locked it in position so I couldn’t accidentally move it, yesterday I moved it back to where it had been previously and so far everything seems to be back to working properly again, so I’m thinking maybe the draft control lever might have been what was causing the issues ?

Depends. Maybe.
Was the little block thing blocking the toplink? If it was out of the way, that would 'enable' the draft control, then maybe it would prevent it from lowering.
I added my control lever, there is nothing really in the way from the outside to the inside levers. They are on the same cam. Weird.

yes it does also seem weird to me as well but I never did fully understand exactly how that draft lever thing is supposed to function.
Its to early to say for sure that moving the draft control to a different position actually fixed anything but that’s the impression I got yesterday, will need a couple more days using it to be sure.

I’m not sure what your referring to about that “little block thing” but I will be taking a closer look later today.

Sorry, I dont have a photo. It's a little upside down U shaped block that is hinged on one side. It sits right behind the top link where it connects to the tractor. The block should have a small pin handle thing that allows you to move it over. This allows the draft control to 'sense' how much pressure is being applied to the top link. Its confusing.

I did find a photo, in the service manual. Its the draft control lockout. Basically the mechanical on/off switch for draft control.

From Google: Draft control senses the extra strain on the hitch and allows the plow to raise just enough to get through the hard spot, immediately returning to the desired depth.

My MT240 doesn't have draft control but our IH's back on the farm had it and I used it to control the plow depth. With the draft set to "Heavy" I would lower the plow and slowly start moving forward and as it reached the correct depth I would start pulling the draft lever up towards the "light" setting until the plow just started to raise and then leave the draft lever there.

If We were just using 3pt sickle mowers or other non ground engaging equipment, we put the lever all the way to Heavy so that it was simply controlled by the Lift lever.

So if you moved your draft lever to the "light" setting, then yes your lift control would not respond.
