Are you serious? Sorry to hear that...

I Owned/drove nothing but VWs for 20 years until somehow I ended up with a yard full of Dodges...(Still don't understand how that happened).

Surprisingly, as much as I miss the VW's, I find the Dodge/Jeep Vehicles to need less maintenance.
My wife's 2017 Cherokee has only needed tires/wipers and brake pads/fluids changed and a new battery this summer in the past 7 years. 200k+ miles. Oh.....I forgot a headlamp bulb..
I loved my VW's as far as price and driving them. But I honestly have never gone through so many sway bar links, coil springs and brakes in my life. Every oil change (5000 miles)
And throttle body, and water pump/thermostat housing.
Now me, my wife and my son all have Fords for the last 5 years and we just drive them and change oil. Had a wiper linkage recall and a door lock actuator on the 2020 F150 replaced and the thermostat went on a 2003 Ranger we had but it's now been replaced by a Bronco Sport Badlands. So we'll see how that one turns out.

With my propane dealer charging me just over $4.50/gal for propane, I bought/installed a heat pump water heater. Which is 4x as efficient as the propane one. Time will tell how it works out.
We installed one about a year ago. Had a pretty good rebate from electric co-op then. My wife complained about the humming noise coming from the basement for a while. I told her to turn up the TV. The app shows how little electricity it uses.

Hate to say this, but as an electrician i see many, many of these fail after a few years. Rheem were and are the worst.

Yes and that's unfortunate because the theory and operation are great. It escapes me why air conditioners, freezers and refrigerators can run fine for decades while dehumidifiers and hybrid water heaters have such short service lives.

I have no idea either, all i know is i worked on so many 1 and 2 year old heat pump water heaters, and also gas and electric on demand waterheater control boards, i stuck with standard gas water heater when i replaced both of mine last year. The previous ones were over 25 years old.

Water heater heat pumps would be a good investment if they lasted. The stand alone unit I bought, and it wasn't cheap lasted a couple years, a relay failed and cooked the unit. I was hoping the factory would sell me a new one cheap, they wouldn't budge.

I just bought 6 of these because with the government subsidies they cost $420 out the door sales tax included and they had a 10 year warranty. The regular 40 gallon electric was $620 plus sales tax. Hopefully the heat pump one doesn’t make my regret list.

Problem is, ive yet to have a company honor the warranty. It got to where i just started to refuse to work on them. They complained about everything from inadequate air flow, scale buildup, hard water, whatever. I never had one that honored the warranty. And these failed within 2 year of a 5 to 10 year warranty.

I've been putting it off since I moved into this house 8 yrs ago. I finally bought a 35 Kw liquid cooled whole house automatic generator

Sweet! That's a big generator!
