I bought an old International tractor in the early summer. I'm not going to claim that I broke anything new on it.
Unfortunately being "field ready" meant it was ready to be put out to pasture.
So I'm simply fixing what was already broken.
The guy claimed that the brakes were a little weak when I bought it. I don't think it has stopped using brakes for 10+ years. So I now have the brake packs rebuilt. But everywhere I look, there is something else.
In the brake packs, one of the actuator studs was so rusted that the head didn't hold the rod in place, so I've done a temporary fix welding a washer onto the head. It seems to be holding.
In the process of doing that, I decided to look at the weak right running board. One of the supports had been broken, welded, and broken again. So it is now welded again and ready to go back on the tractor.
I'm just trying to decide what the next can of worms to open will be.
The fixing part for the stud for the aircleaner prefilter was pot metal and half broken. I think I may be able to still use it, but it will take some improvising.
Of course at some point I'll have to start hunting down oil leaks.
Do drive through car washes allow one to pull a tractor on a trailer through the carwash?
