What are your favorite Christmas Appetizers?

Until Thanksgiving has been properly celebrated, Christmas isn't top of mind. Advent begins on Sunday. We'll revisit this topic between then and Dec. 24th.

While carving the turkey, I will eat both oysters.
They are an oval shaped muscle under the bird, cooking in all the rich juices, one on each side of the spine.

After that appetizer, I'm ready for the rest of the trimmings.

I’m not sure of my favorite but I’m hungry now.😋

On New Years Eve we have a late supper that consist of nothing but appetizers. My favorite to go along with all the heavy treats is a vegetable tray and Deans french onion or ranch dip.

chips and hummus. Holiday food threads always make me hungry. Everyone has a favorite that disappears first. Sharing recipes feels like sharing traditions. I once spent half an afternoon trying to find the Cheetos phone number after a snack-related mishap. Food brings stories together.

My favorite is only on offer after the meal. What ever is leftover of the slow roasted marinated venison back strap. Not much comes close to the tenderness or flavor. Yet to feed it to anyone without them getting seconds or more.
It's like cookies everyone grabs some when walking by..

Anything with the words "steak" and "bites".

Nostalgic fav is chips and clam dip.

Spinach dip is good, but I enjoy artichoke dip.
1 can of choke hearts, a cup of mayo, a cup of parmisan, and a cup of shredded jack.
Bake for 40 min. at 325 NO HOTTER!
Enjoy With good hard bread!

eta

I forgot! A small can of green mildly hot green chile peppers!

Keep the juice of the peppers in the mix, but drain and cut up the artichokes.

Dang now Ive got another thing to fix and try.
We had folks over for supper the other evening and my wife put me on the hook to make this dip. (I've got some association with it for "bring something" get togethers)
I served it hot, and it was a bit to "fondu ish" to me, spooning on to the good bread.
But, now that the left overs are well chilled, the dip is stiffer, and can be piled on like a spread.

Now I'm going to need to raid the fridge and enjoy some!

Cal, I have had an artichoke/spinach dip that was great.

I saw elsewhere that what Brits call pigs in a blanket are sausages wrapped in bacon.

I think in the spirit of international relations, I will blend the two cultures and wrap that bacon-wrapped sausage in dough and bake it.

Serve with your favorite condiments.

Berlin-style - curry ketchup
Pretzel style - beer cheese
Smoky - BBQ sauce
Blustery day - chili
TexMex - queso
Mex - Salsa
...
The options are endless.

I remember someone fixing breadsticks that had bacon wrapped around them and cooked. High cholesterol but good.

There is a place that sells maple donuts with bacon on top. I tired one. It was ok but not something i would order again.

The only time that bacon did not make a dramatic difference when paired with anything.
