Anyone know the rated speeds for the 6000 4wd? Trying to determine what gear and range will provide a ground speed of 4-6 mph.
Thanks.

Have you looked in your owners manual? Sorry that I can't help.:(

Fourth or fifth gear will be awfully close at PTO rpm.

Hope this helps.

I think the speed for each gear at PTO rpm is posted on a decal on the inside of the left fender. Need to look at my tractor to be sure.

Low 3 or 4 should be the closest @ 2100 rpm

Ahh...I found it in the manual. Guess I should have looked there first.

Low range 4th gear ground speed = 4.3 mph
High range 1st gear ground speed = 6.1 mph

These speeds would be with pto at 540, which is about 2100 rpm.

Of course what I would like to have is also something right in between there.

Thanks.

I've always said the 6000 needs at 4th and a half gear!!! It would be nice to have another slot in between those two.

Glad you found it.

I agree. 4.3 is a little slow and 6.1 is a little fast to pull my baler. The 6000 does a real nice job pulling it though. Even on the hills it is real does fine.

Yes, I bale in 4th gear for the most part and that is just about perfect. My 200+ acres are steep and hilly and the 6000 takes it in stride.

Every now and then I wish I had a 6530 with the levers and controls on the side.

The forward and reverse lever gets a little old after a while. I have now baled about 500 5x4 round bales. After 5 hours or so of baling I am pretty tired of the forward reverse lever. Thinking of adding a kicker to my baler, but concerned on the hills I might kick one off. I am covered with grass dust as well. Cab would be nice too.

In low range 4th gear the tractor, baler and I are all ready to go a little faster. I am amazed at how fast the baler will eat up the hay, even the clumps.

Maybe you should think about looking at one of the 8560s with a cab, if they ever get out for sale. More gears and clean air, :D just a thought.
