The Mayans were not wrong! It was whomever interpreted their calendar that was off.

Actually I think they saw into the future and seen who was elected and decided keeping track of the downfall wasnt worth their effort any longer.

I think the Mayans only predicted an end to an era and start of another. I don't think they predicted the end of the world. That was just some lunies interpretation.

The mayans never predicted the world will end. The just stopped adding digits to their calendar. Leave it to the press to get things totally screwed up.

but...but...it was written in stone!!!
And, that cartoon mixes things...the Aztecs had the circular stone calendar...The Mayans used glifs...kinda rectangular images....carved in stone.
It's called the stone age for a reason. And, yes, the Mayan calendar is kinda like your car odometer, after a while it rolls over and sets back to zero...assuming it does not come to an untimely end before then:thumbsup:
