Deere 5100E/H260/MX15
We have had our new 5055E cab tractor for about two weeks now. We had a few small issues since day one and was finally able to be home for the mechanic to come take care of them. However, we found some more problems than we thought.

Radiator reservoir was empty. Problem was the radiator is full of oil! Engine oil is clean. Looks like the engine oil cooler failed. How on a brand new machine I don't know?

One of the main cab bolts on the roof is stripped. They might be able to chase the threads but the phrase "possible new cab" was thrown out. I'm assuming they are talking about the frame.

3pt will not raise my cutter high enough. Apparently there is a problem with the rockshaft or draft control. It is also very jerky according to the mechanic.

They will be picking it up soon. Hopefully I can get a loaner as I have a bunch of things lined up that I've committed to.

Besides these issues, we love the tractor! Only 14 hrs so far, 11 by us.

Maybe it is made in India?

Radiator may have been absent of oil when tractor was PDI'd by dealer technician.

Yup. It was built in India.

The radiator was full of oil?

Holy cow.

That is quite a mistake by the dealer.

Wow.

That's what I thought! It's oil and coolant. Nasty! Mechanic is thinking bad oil cooler. He has never seen one fail on a brand new tractor.

I'm thinking it was like this when I brought it home. I didn't think to check the coolant at the dealership. It had 3-4 hrs on it when I bought it.

Dealer is being great. Offered to pick it up and get me a loaner. Not a cab tractor but a 75 hp! Should work to get the mowing done that I need to do ASAP

So sorry to hear about those problems. Might be wise to document the problems, take photos, and keep good records as well as get the John Deere area reps. information just in case you keep having problems with this tractor. May sound like overkill, but if the problems persist, especially near the end of the warranty period, the more documentation the better to tell your side of the story. So glad you have a great dealer, but there is only so much he can do. Good luck and I hope this is the end of the problems.

"New" as in new to you, or actually new?

I was under the impression the new 5E series are all made in Augusta? Didn't they switch over when the cab models came out?

I had a few minor kinks with mine when I first got it but I've put 120 hours on it since with no more problems...

New as in brand new. Had about 3 hrs on it when I bought from them installing the loader and from the first time I test drove it. I was told they are made in India. Still has plastic covering the turn signal lens.

If Tractor fluids have not gone down and it's running good the radiator being full of oil may have come from the dealer that way. It would be hard not to notice that amount of fluid being lost/exchanged.

Makes one wonder if oil could be used in place of anti freeze.

I believe there may have been some oil cooled engines???
