Hi all

Im looking at buying a rebuilt Welger AP 63 baler.
Does anyone have experience with these machines? Ive heard they are tough, but what is their output like, what breaks and what should I look out for.

Thanks

Ryan

Hi Zimbo, I have no experience with Welger balers as we don't have any in Canada (to my knowledge), but I've heard only good things about them.
Why not consider a MasseyFerguson-Hesston 1840 inline baler, I think it will outperform the Welger in bales per hour plus it has less moving parts and easier to pull.
Just my thoughts I have no connection with Agco :)

I have a Welger AP71 and love it. It replaced an old International B47.
The Welger is heavily built, less manoeuvrable than the B47 but it sure knows how to devour hay.
The only thing I've broken is the shear bolt on the flywheel. That usually only happens if I overfeed it, especially with green hay. My baler has quite worn plunger knives so I think new plunger & fixed knives will help solve the shear bolts breaking.
The Welger knotters are a clever system. Very reliable. Only two bolts holding a knotter on, so if you have trouble with a knotter in the field you can unbolt it and refit a replacement (if you keep a spare) very quickly.
Having said that I've never had a knotter problem.
