Amen. We used to call it "zinc flue". It's nasty (but not as deadly as cadmium fumes.)

Apologies to the OP for being slightly off topic but...

Cadmium is often used as a coating on steel to prevent rust. However, cadmium in welding fumes causes the lung disease, emphysema, as well as kidney failure.

I was once told it accumulates in your body with no obvious symptoms. Then one day there's too much (and it's too late)

More off topic blather... Cad plating is a very effective finish on fasteners used in aerospace structures but is being phased out due health hazards. Europe ahead of the US on this. Exemptions allowing use possible on military applications as often it is still the best alternative.
