Not that this is terribly relevant, but I welded a QA plate onto a bucket with a small stick welder. A PA160 set for about 125 amps with some 1/8 inch 7018. No problems and that is the bucket I use for digging up rocks and such. So it is stressed pretty good. I keep my factory Kioti bucket for less rigorous loads/tasks and use this old Kubota bucket for more intensive things. I think you welder is easily capable of welding a plate which is probably 1/4 inch or maybe 5/6 at most to the thinner metal on the bucket.
