Hi all, I have a Kubota 3130 and would like to buy or more than likely make a tool to cut water way channels. I have one thats about 1/4 mile long. None of them have to be cut more than a foot or so deep. Anybody have any ideas or know how?
Thanks

Would a subsoiler work, or a trencher?

How about a middle buster. Do you want to cut a trench or a nice groomed water way.

I think some where inbetween I'd like more than just a V ripped in the ground, but I don't need or want something like you see when a pro uses a Gradall.
I saw one implement that was a semi circle with a sharp leading edge, open back, I guess you follow with a hoe to clean the spoils.
Thanks

I just bumped up a post from a month or so ago where Harleybob was looking to do same thing. Check out his thread, it is now right below yours. Vditch trench implement.

Around here in the flatlands of SE Missouri the rice farmers use a PTO driven ditcher. Like this
Probably not what you hand in mind

That is more tool than my tractor can handle. That is a great looking machine, I've never seen any thing like that. Thanks

BTDT thanks for the thread bump.

BTDT thanks again for the thread, I think I found what I'm going to do. Buy a
Tractor Supply Company - KING KUTTER® MIDDLE BUSTER and use my back blade. The Middle Buster is $112.00 I can't even buy the metal for that price.:D

Hooked on Hp, I see that you suggested that first, thanks. Until I saw how you could cut a furrow then clean it up with a back blade it didn't sink in. I'm a little thick sometimes LOL

Use your back blade by dropping one side and angling that dropped side forward. It will cut into the ground like a long moldboard. Travel one length, turn around and cut the other side on the way back. I made some decent waterways this way, and only needed slight grooming afterwards.

I have a 21-hp Kubota B7510HST and a King Kutter XB middle buster/subsoiler combo. This time of year when the soil is rain-softened I can get the middle buster to cut a 10-12" deep trench for 4" dia corrugated drain pipe with no problem. Be prepared to do a lot of grunt work with your trench shovel to clean out the loose soil that falls back into the trench. It's a $130 solution to your problem.
