I'm building a small trailer to tow behind the Kubota. It will have a 125 gallon water tank on it. I currently have no well at the cabin, so I need a way to haul water from my brother's place to mine. I figure in the future when I do have my well in, it will be handy to haul water to other parts of my 6.23 acres when I need it.

I have a bunch of scrap metal on hand, so I'm going to see how cheaply I can do this build. The frame is built out of some 3 inch c-channel I had. I had to purchase the d-rings, and the suspension set, so far I'm just over $100 in.

Pics so far...I know the welding's not the purdiest, but I'm trying...

I'm looking forward to seeing this build happen.

Are you planning on getting the water out by gravity feed, or are you going to have some kind of pump?

Cory, with that frame you shouldn't have any problems hauling that 1000 lbs of water!

Yeah it's a little overkill, but free's free!

For the time being, it will be gravity feed. Depending on what I do with it later, it may need a pump. Generally I will just be filling 5 gallon jugs off it.

Looks good! I didn't mean to imply it was over kill just heavy enough.

When I first read your post, I thought it said 1000 gallons.....oh well, it is overkill for what it needs to be.

For hauling water, overkill is good.

Well, it finally stopped snowing after two days, and the sun is out! Time to move the project outside for a while so I can test fit the tank. I wanted to see if I have enough room around the perimeter of the trailer to build some 6 inch high rails. Looks like I do.

Also, I finally got to try out the new bucket hooks I welded on a few weeks back!

You couldn't run a hose from your neighbors house?

Here is what I used at my cabin for about 20 years till I got my well drilled .

I'm checking the depth of the well "450 ft" in this picture with my grand daughter "helping me"

The whole place is off grid.

What was that Tom, about 250 gallons?

Here are a couple of pics of the rail I'm building around the deck...

Its a 300 gallon iboc tote.
I use a 2 stroke honda pump to pump from a spring to fill it and transfer to another tote on the ground plumed in to a pitcher pump on the counter by the sink.

May be overkill but when you add the "slosh factor" those springs will get a workout.....especially with the tank half full.
Are you going with axle over springs?

The axle I have is an old one, 1.75 inch solid square steel. It's drilled for axle under springs, but depending on trailer height I may redrill it to go axle over.

Anything to keep the center of gravity as low as possible.....

Looks good CoreShot!

I'll be taking my 3PH mounted 130-gallon water buffalo to the powder coater next week. After I get it back and fully assembled, I'll make a gallery for it in my Picasa web albums.

I went with 3PH mounted to avoid the hassle of backing a trailer mounted unit up.

I've already done two rounds of 'sea trials' with it and it works fine.

Mine will be used to water trees during dry winter months when the irrigation system is shut down for the season. I hate dragging 300+' of garden hose around.

mjncad,I'm looking forward to seeing pics of it. I just have a baby tractor, so I need the tank to be on wheels. Otherwise, I like you way of doing it.

My plans for this one in the future after I get my well in is to put a battery operated sprinkler timer on it to meter flow to some trees while I'm not there. Just need to keep it full and place the trailer where it will do the most good, then I can start planting some trees.
