Water pump deals?

JD 855 water pump is weeping just a bit from the bottom hole.

I have been just watching the antifreeze level and letting it weep.

Now winter is approaching, I'd like to replace the pump before it gets cold.
I hate wrenching cold engine parts.

Question:

Are there any good deals to be had out there on JD/Yanmar water pumps?

Is this a dealer only part or has anyone found them for a deal anywhere else?

Got quoted $215 from the "Deeler".
Got quoted $140 for a send-away-rebuild.

Now the little hole on the bottom side of the pump is closer to a slow drip.

Still looking for a good deal on a new one....

Any chance you can put a new seal in it? Also, I've seen JD-looking water pumps for Yanmar motors at NAPA stores for use in the small Asian cars.

I just looked on the JD parts website (www.johndeere.com/agriculture/parts view/under 855/engine/water pump.

It shows :

13 M800083 SEAL 1 (ORDER AM878167)

13 is the diagram label
M800083 is the part number
1 in the number of seals
and the AM878167 is probably a commonized replacement part

There's a diagram there that could be used to guide you to pop out the shaft+impeller and stuff a new seal in it.

I'd pull the pump first, get the old seal in hand and take it with me to the dealer/NAPA/AutoZone or whatever. This just to make sure you only need to make 1 trip.

Probably would take just as much time to cange the seal as to put the new pump assembly in. Maybe some others can assist you with what it takes to get R done !

That pump and seal you're looking at is for the 655 not the 855, either way the replacement mechanical seal is replaced by the complete water pump assy. Yanmar quit supplying repair parts for the waterpumps on these several years ago.
