Water pump change question

have a new waterpump assembly and gasket on the way for my lk3054. i've never changed a water pump but it seems pretty straight forward. i have the workshop manual but it doesn't address if you use "gasket cement" or not. is gasket cement standard to do on waterpumps? if so do you butter the engine side or pump side or both?

when i change any thing with a gasket i use grease just because it holds the gasket in place :thumbsup: but i put it on both sides ,,,,,after you change the pump make sure you dont have a air lock ,,, there is usually a plug high in the cooling system take thet out when you fill the rad when the fluid comes out you should be ok

Never did a tractor pump but changed several water pumps in cars. Your main issue will be access, it's just awkward to reach. WRT gasket sealer, I always used it, largely because there was considerable corrosion (this is in old cars) and I didn't want to have to do the job over if it leaked. You need to be sure you get all the old gasket off both surfaces, which usually involves some scraping with a razor blade or some such. If both surfaces are smooth and flat, I'd recommend Hylomar sealant. Hylomar won't fill big gaps but it will make dis assembly much easier in case you ever need to do it again. You should be able to get Hylomar at any auto parts place.
