Slide my Dk35 into a creek and locked up motor , got machine out and removed injectors . Drained out water and changed oil , now when I start machine I am getting white smoke out of number 1 cylinder. Swapped injectors around still number one cylinder . Pulled head no bent valves all looks good. Any ideas?

i would suggest a compression test and leak down test on all cylinders, that may help point you in the right direction. The good cylinders will give a good baseline to compare #1 to

If it isn't a valve problem you may have broken rings on #1

If you hydro locked the engine while running a bent rod is also possible.

If you are lucky it's just a blown head gasket.
Compression and leak done was good, removed head looks like bent rod number one :( . Piston not coming all the way to the top like the other two. Will now have to figure out how to get the oil pan off. Wish I had. Service manual. Thanks for the input.

See PM for lead on getting service manual. I'm a bit curious about how you knew the smoke (which is un-burned fuel) came from cylinder #1, unless the exhaust manifold was off. A conventional compression test (not leakdown) should have showed low compression on #1.

Thanks for the pm , I questioned my compression test results and had cracked injectors and #1 was dead, I swapped injectors still dead , then I removed exhaust and #1 was putting out white smoke . When I removed cyl head #1 piston was only coming to about 1/8 inch to top deck and the other two were level with top deck.

Sounds like a bent connecting rod for sure. If there is no piston, bore, or crank damage the fix shouldn't be too bad. Good luck.

More disassembly later today , thanks again.

So the one on the left is the good one. Water and internal combustion engine don't mix. Totally my fault . Thanks again for all the input. image.jpeg
