Well, if he later decides to push some snow, or work in the mud, wouldn't R4's be a good compromise? I don't seem to tear up my lawn at all with them.

I am with you on the R4's. I don't have any problems tearing up my lawn. But I have never removed snow or done anything with turf tires so I can't say which is better.

I would love to deal with some snow with the 4010, but living in South Florida, I'll be mowing 12 mos. of the year. Also the ground never gets too muddy since the soil is a bit sandy and drains quickly. Its a tough call, but I'm going with the turf tires. Thanks for the advice.

Turfs work well on ice. And they accept chains better than the R4s, in my opinion. For snow and ice conditions I feel the chained turfs would be the best overall.
