Want a 3PH sprayer...

Hey TN Hobby,

Sorry for the delay -- I've been traveling (work, work, work...)

Here's my "quick-detach" solution: Menard's / Home Depot / Lowe's / TSC -- any of 'em,

Get garden-hose fittings with barbs for the spray-hose. Female on one side / male on the other -- then you won't ever hook up backwards... (Also, I used "poly" on the suction side / brass on the pressure side -- it's a double-check on the hook-up. Even the wife won't screw that up! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I really like the cam-lock devices that are proposed by other posters -- unfortunately, I couldn't find 3/4" stuff around here. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Also, I did the same GH fittings on the line to the boom -- hooked up a wand. Add a ball-valve below, and I can direct to either the boom, or the wand. (I suppose, I could go "both" if I left it 1/2-open -- that way, I could spray "the other side of the fence, while I'm doing the pasture... Hmmm...)

As for the "books", my rig came with a book for the pump, the Tee-jet, the sprayer, etc., etc... One of 'em has a VERY NICE explanation of spray rates based on ground speed, pressure, etc... Even a very nice explanation of how to determine ground speed, etc...

Enjoy!

I purchased a FIMCO 60 gal 3 pt 12' sprayer from Fleet Farm three years ago ( approx. $350). I added a Hypro 6 roller pump for approx $90. It works great on my Kubota L3430 HSTC. Last year I added a year-end closeout electric solenoid valve to turn boom nozzles off and on ($50). Now I can keep the back window shut.

I would recommend 20 gal per of water to make sure you saturate the ground/plant cover. Also less drift in windy conditions.

"boomless .. subject to drift and somewhat inaccurate in their application. " .. The boomless I used was downright poor at uniform coverage. A boom is way better.

In a post above I mentioned an XL tip that should be an XR Teejet, not XL.

Here is a photo of the pump hookup with cleaning. A garden hose dropped in the sprayer tank fill opening would pop out and spray me with water - every time. Sometimes several times in a filling. The copper J hook fill nozzle hangs on the fill opening and works well. I measure my chemicals while it fills.

To flush the pump after use the male Banjo camlock fitting on the copper J fits into the female fitting on the pump, which is the inlet fitting. The garden hose is already connected to the faucet so it is very fast to power flush the pump. Fo my setup I have to remove the pump from the tractor.

Swapping the hoses around so the pump suction has the hose instead of the 90 would allow me to flush the pump while it is attached to the tractor and tractor PTO is running. Should have done that, and it will be changed.

Better:
Suction hose w/ Female fitting , Male fitting on the pump discharge.

Update on my P-K sprayer.
I really think it was money well spent, works great!
The boom spray pattern is nice about 12ft,very even.
The spray gun works real nice also and is live all the time,
just pick it up pull the triger.
The 6 roller pump is more than enough.
I was boom spraying at about 30psi, nice thing is you can
crank the gun up to 200psi /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
even though 50-60 psi works very well with the gun.
I had a pond shore and a very long ditch to spray.
Little do I know, but I do know the day went very well
with what I have.
I tried to spray about 10gal per acre, need to crank up my
speed, I was closer to 15 gal...?
Time will tell /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

surely there are some farm auctions in your area: i've bought several sprayers that way..sometimes they need a pump, but thats less than $100...i have, but don't use the boom: i like the spray nozzle, and they have some really good ones out now days.

I have a t-jet boomless spray nozzle that covers about 50ft. I run through mix at 100 gallon / acre. It means I don't have to get near trees and can cover 20 ft past the fence line. I make a point of using it only during calm or light winds.

I didn't even know about camlock fittings until this thread. I bought a set last night and will put them on my pump this weekend. The removal of the hoses from the pump for oiling and storage should be a breeze from now on. It's amazing the knowledge that can be gained from this site.

Hey JRP,

I can't remember if it was you, originally, who suggested the idea -- but, I fashioned a "J-hook" (as you call it) from PVC w/ a couple of elbows and a female GH fitting. I agree -- super idea!

Yup - I'm with ya on the power-flush. I did the Female on the suction side - that way, I can power-flush with the garden hose on the PTO (if I want). Actually, I get a pretty darned good flush just rotating rollers by hand...

Nice pix!

I like the "J" hook! I'll have one of those made up before the weekend.

But, I am a little confused by the discussion of power flushing the roller pump. When I finish spraying, I run a minimum of three tanks of clean water through my entire system. Are you guys doing that AND power flushing your roller pump? I haven't had any problems with mine. I run the first flush through with just clean water and rock the tank to get every last drop out. Then, depending on what I have just sprayed, I run a tank of Nurtra-Sol. And then one more clear water rinse.

Since you only use Nutra-Sol for certain chemicals, which chemicals do you spray that you feel require Nutra-Sol?
