I am amazed at what "advanced society" really means.
Gone are the days when an owner or worker ran out to your car with a smile
and asked, "filler up". Then cleaned your windshield, checked your oil, and aired up your tires.
Gone are the days when Krogers had all registers manned, a bagger at each register, and another to rotate back in while your bagger wheeled your cart out to your car and put the groceries in your trunk before taking the cart back in so they were always available for the next customer. These young men were not only learning responsibility and pride in earning their own money, they were also learning communication skills with all ages of customers.
Gone are the days when young people learned talking skills by using the phone to talk to their relatives and friends. Now they text in shorthand without any expression on their face.
Gone are the jobs, I wonder why... Are we becomming a society of electronic dependent introverts?
