I have these valves installed on both my MX5800HST and L6060HSTC tractors. At high RPM, the valves open but will not close until the RPM is reduced and the hyd. pressure drops. Neither valve did this when new but now, after 3 years, both have the same issue. Warm or cold makes no difference. The dealer installed them and they are plumbed correctly. It's most noticeable when plowing. I have to drop the RPM to change the blade angle. It's unlikely a part failure since both valves have the problem. A design flaw maybe?

Anyone else have this problem?

Do you use the 3rd regularly all year round or just for winter time use plowing snow?

Possible being cold and if limited use during summer the solenoid tube assemblies get a little gummed up and or valves are marginally sized for the tractor flow rates. Failing to spring is a more common failure than shifting since coil pull has to be strong enough to overcome spring load.

If you cycle them several times do they get any better?

Winter, Summer, warm or cold, the problem remains. Yes, I use the valve all year for other applications and working it repeatedly does not solve the issue.

I'll ask about it at the dealer on my next visit.

Sounds like weak solenoids to me.
Contact WR Long.

Member Avenger has some experience with troubleshooting these.

Does that kit have circuit board for powering the solenoids? I recall some other posts about those failing but don’t remember what brand product they were used on. Just wondering if something is preventing quick collapse of the coil circuit making it sluggish to return to center.

What you are describing sounds like a flow (flow force) issue that has developed over time. They can be challenging to define and resolve.

Did u ever get the sticking valve fixed at higher rpm. I have a wr long valve doing the same thing. It’s on a kioti dk4210 though. Thanks

The dealer said the problem is due to a weak return spring in the valve body. They don't service them, they would just replace the entire valve assembly.

Rather than spend the $$ now, when I get a chance, I'll take it apart and see if I can shim or replace the spring. Right now, it's just an annoyance since I use the auto throttle advance feature on my Kubotas. The engine idles down automatically when the tractor isn't moving and I can use the valve without a problem.

Thanks for the info. I got my tractor used at 200 hours and it was doing this, so I don’t know how new it was when it started messing up. Does any of your tractors have a backhoe attachment?

What is the flow rating of the WR Long valve or make and model number? Reason for asking is the “Tandem center” spool (P to T, A & B blocked) on D03 valves is one of the lower flow rated spools. I looked at Rexroth 4WE6 G- spool and 12 GPM was failure point. Eaton - Vickers DG4V 3 8C spool was also 12 GPM failure point. The standard performance DG4V 3S failure point was 6 GPM @ 1200 PSI and dropped to 2.5 GPM @ 2500 PSI.

What is the flow rating of the WR Long valve or make and model number? There are potentially higher flow valve that will eliminate your problems but may also require a different mount and plumbing arrangement. Rexroth - Oil Control makes diverters with flow range up to around 30 GPM or higher.
I’m not to sure but I’ll check into that this evening

Yes, my MX5800 has a BH92 hoe. It's not related to the 3rd function valve problem though since it also occurs on the L6060 without a hoe.

Both my tractors have the 12 GPM W&R Long valves. The sticking problem happens on both valves.

I still think that you should contact WR Long directly. If anyone knows about your issue, they should.

Ok. U took the words out of mouth. lol. I forgot to check the flow of the valve I have on my tractor as the other fellow stated. Should get to it tommorow. Thanks again
