Voltage Regulator-Rectifier

B&S engine on model 1232 rear engine rider Gravely. I'm not where the machine is but once a month and try to get parts lined up for each visit.
The engine data from a photo says Family: YBSXS.5012VP 274826. I do not have the Model, type, and code from the engine at the moment.

The part is square with a small bolt in the center of it and shown in this photo with 2 wires attached -- a red and a yellow. Can't tell if it is the 5 amp or 9 amp flavor as my documentation says they made both.

Anyone have the same equipment or replaced one of these ?

Great help. Thank you. How can you tell that this one is the right one compared the one that looks the same on Amazon and is $14.03 ? The price is not the biggest deal, I just can't figure out how you tell.

The $14 dollar one should also work, but is Chinese aftermarket, thus the difference in price. This ones $14.17 and has 4 5 star reviews. Good start, but low sample pool..: Amazon.com : Voltage Regulator for Briggs & Stratton 79436, 691188, 491546 : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Personally, since there is no real way to actually tell who makes them, I would be inclined to order up the $14.17 one and give it a go.

I looked at those posted regulators and my impression is that they are simple full wave bridges wired so as they use the chassis as the neg or ground. As such those bridges are as inexpensive as less than $1.00 from many sources. Would be worth a try IMO.

Pretty sure theres some kind of regulating circuit in there too..
