Just was surfing some auctions and saw this unimog type toy. Anyone bought from this auction before?
Anyone ever seen one of these toys work:licking:

I'm familiar with the basic Unimog from my time working in Austria... every municipality had them... most out-fitted with 3-way dump boxes... it was cool watching one loaded with gravel pull up to a job with the option of conventional dumping to the rear or side dumping... very tough and capable.

thought it would be great for the cabin property but the cost of shipping would be huge to were I am.

Only the military would re-engineer a backhoe like that. I can't imagine what that cost new.

I saw these thing at work about 15 years ago when we had a massive flood ad the WV National Guard used them to aid in the clean up. I have always drooled over any Unimog machine. Unimogs are more like a road worthy tractor than a truck. They are real machines.

I recently saw something about these: US Engineering Corp machinery with the Backhoes designed to fold "flat" to help with transport.

'Mogs are stunning fun, though with that much weight on one I Can't help think that the manouverability they're famed for would be heavily compromised. :(

Looks like fun :D

Awesome trucks, great for getting around farm/ranch.

Unimog is made by Daimler Benz in Germany. It was conceived after WW2 as farm vehicle that would allow farmers to work on fields and deliver products to the market in the same vehicle. There are many variants. New one cost about 100K USD.
Unimog is the fastest tractor on the planet. I think.

There is a TBNer (can't recall his nick, I'm afraid) that rebuilds Unimogs. Does nice work too! Might do a search for Unimog (on TBN) and see what you come up with.
Neat machines...way beyond my budget though!

Two neighbors have one: The one has it just for fun (and the occasional trailer haul) the other has a landscaping business and has a 10 ton/meter Atlas crane on it, with forest grapple and clamshell bucket.

I would like to find one of those backhoes from army surplus though, 3pt backhoes are hard to find used, around here.

I remember these models, they are parachute deployable. Have a kinds of accessories, and may have more jumps that a special forces sergeant.

I always thought that they had a short wheel base and might be squirrel-ie on slick roads.

They had some name CEE, combat engineer vehicle some such
