strictly oem oil filters from the start (truck new '92) & Castrol 5/40 full syn here.
325k original engine. i change more frequently than above posters, but it's ok.
the 5 qt diy change costs around $34

I used to do 3000 miles; and now do 5000 on my vehicles; as much as anything cause it's easy to track; but work vehicles, policy is 7500; and it's often close to 10k before it gets done if I'm busy. 10k and less really doesn't seem to be a problem in modern vehicles.

For our truck 03 Dodge it takes 3 gallons and a quart
T6 2.5gal 15w40 full synthetic $56 Dodge filter $12
I purchased enough for a 4 year supply so I can change
my own oil and filter. I fill the filter before installing
and I run 8K miles before changing sometimes less
With the VW Jetta I get a free oil change every 10K
for 3 years

I bought a Bendpak lift. 3 years ago. I think it has already paid for itself. $3k.

Break jobs, oil changes, and many other things I probably wouldn't do if I didn't have a lift. I hate working from the floor.

We use a guy in Chicago (of all places) who set up shop in a former gas station.

$75 for synthetic oil and filter change. I occasionally tip him a $20 as a thank you.

I own a Dodge Challenger, it’s pretty low, and I got a set of Race Ramps. I just looked at their website and don’t let the prices scare you off. I’ve had mine for several years but it looks like the ones I have are $175 today. They have a more gradual ramp so your nose won’t hit and they have a little more lift than the usual ramps. They are a solid foam so very light. I hardly use my floor jack anymore.
I’m doing an oil change for about $35 to $40 with full synthetic and a NAPA Gold oil filter.

I have always changed the oil in all our vehicles but decided I was tired of dragging out the ramps, crawling around under them and collecting the oil for recycling. I decided that letting the local repair shop do it using my oil & filter (Amsoil+Wix). A shop with a really good rep I have used for a few repairs I no longer have tools for.

Worked out great, $13 for them to change it EXCEPT when I let my OCD get the better of me and check under the truck only to find not a single grease fitting (19) had been greased nor differential or transfer case checked. PLUS since it is a 4x4 that unfortunately has the filter located over the front drive shaft u-joint all the oil that ran out of the filter when it was changed is ALL OVER.

$13 was not the deal I thought it was. Guess I am back to doing it myself.
