Valve for 3pt spliter

I need asplitter but funds are short. I was thinking since I have the beam, ram and plenty of scrap metal laying around why not make one to run on my tractor hydraulics. I don't want to go back and forth to the tractor to cycle the ram. so I thought I would get a detent valve to run it. I can pull my valve on the aux hydro to open either way or neutral. I would like to lock it one way or the other and rub the ram from the spliter. Will a regular detent valve work or do I need more?

A detented valve will work...but so will a bungee cord or rope on a regular spring-return-to-center valve if you already have one.

The way my valve is made it is either momentary or on, not shure if it auto returns to center i will have to check.
