One would certainly suspect it was intentional. On the other hand, I have to pick up some 4" sockets across the border for a friend. Maybe the sockets found the computer at the end of a conveyor.

Just got the laptop delivered by UPS that we ordered for our daughter that is her Christmas present, outside box tore up and taped. Took pictures opened box, computer box also damaged. Took pictures and removed the laptop, and it is smashed. So not only was UPS late with getting our package here, they also destroyed it. UPS has some of the worst service out there.

I honestly believe that because it's people that make up and represent large companies that span across the US, it all comes down to the local training and customer service attitude.

I worked for a very large company that is big, and I trained people locally in that area. My favorite saying is "it's like McDonalds, you know what your going to get, you just don't know how you're going to get it". Some locations were great, some sucked. Attitude comes down from the top in my experience.

You say UPS has some of the worst service out there. Probably true from your own experiences in YOUR. So far living here for over a decade, UPS is generally the best per our own experience. Same company, just different leadership, attitudes and training vary from one area to another IMO.

Post office being government, not much you can say about them LOL

Guess we are lucky here. The regular and sub mailman are great. If the package wont fit in the box they leave it on my porch. They have even delivered bees for my son and set them in the shade.
The UPS driver is always the same and he will bring a package here instead of dropping it off at the PO if hes coming this way.
FedEx the same driver and courteous. Now years ago I would not have anything shipped by them, they could not find my place. I remember one time they had been trying to deliver a computer board to me for days. Always the same excuse driver could not locate me. Then one evening an old pickup came up the drive, a girl got out handed me the package and left. Dont know who she was but she didnt work for FedEx.

Something got the computer good. We took it back the UPS drop offsite and sent it right back. A replacement computer has already been shipped to us, due here on Monday.

Well, in full disclosure, my wife is a mail carrier. She is also very active in the local union (she has been steward, VP, and formal A rep) so our mail service may be above par just because of her. She knows many of the carries throughout the different post office (knows our carrier personally) and has dealt with issues for them and helps them when there are problems.

Although that doesn't change the service we have been receiving from UPS. Generally throughout the year, the service is ok. One of the issues we have had is with our packages being misdelivered. Oddly enough they end up at the Village Hall. Since I'm on the Planning and Zoning Commission, they all know me there and will bring the package by after they closed. Although one time I had to stop and get the package, because it was to heavy for the ladies (UPS had delivered 1,000 rounds of 9mm to the wrong place).

If anything gets delivered to the wrong place instead of mine, it's generally Fed Ex because they sub out our rural route and my next door neighbors house and I have long drive ways where you can't see the house from the road. No house numbers but there is a street number on the mail box if you look for both mail boxes on the road. For some reason he runs the chance of getting my stuff, but I never seem to get any of his stuff. Seems all my ammo comes in UPS, and I've had the same guy delivering it seems since I lived here.

My MIL worked for the postal service for 20 years and did pretty well for herself through hard work IMO. After getting to know my local postmaster, he seems to be of the same opinion of the postal service, which lets just say isn't the greatest. That said, for the most part, overall, we really can't complain about anyone overly hard because sooner or later we do get our packages, and they all seem to be intact.

The FedX guy once got stuck in my drive so I hitched him out with my tractor.

Next day FexX delivered a nice 'thank you' assortment of chocolates!

A coworker recently ordered a new laptop that was delivered by FedEx. The driver said he left it at a certain spot which made NO sense what so ever. It was pretty obvious that the driver dropped the computer off at the wrong house. The coworker immediately called up FedEx and started the I did not get my package process...

A day or so later the package showed up and it was obvious the box had been opened. It was real obvious when the laptop was started and one could see finger prints on the screen from the neighbors who had opened the box.:laughing::laughing: It was past obvious when their name popped up on the login prompt.:D:D:D:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Coworker got a new system. :)

We had problems with our old mail carrier for the first 15 years we were here. Bills sometimes had to have new checks sent because the first one didn't make it, mail often misdelivered, got my paystub once after it had been opened by nosy neighbor.. new mail carrier much younger, does his best, puts over sized on side porch, always happy.

With UPS, we had same driver for many years, fed our wolf dog biscuits (although she buried them rather than eat them, she enjoyed getting them). He hurt his back, had many different drivers for a few years and now the last year or so the same. Side porch if we don't meet him.

Fedex will put it anywhere, in front of garage, side door, front door (which is seldom used).. Never know where it will be.

I sometime get other people's mail, considering the amount of mail that is transferred at my mail point I can't believe there isn't more, but I separate the envelopes from the junk mail, not looking at who's who, and grab my envelope opener, slit the tops of all of the envelopes and start looking at the insides. Bingo-Bango the contents don't add up to me, I then look at the addressee... wow its not me ! I put the contents in back in the envelope and tape the top and give it to the person that should have it. I could be the "nosey neighbor", but I do my best to put it back the way it came out and bring it to the person that should have it, I am now wondering how much of my mail it thrown out because I don't get much returned to me.

We have receive a number of Amazon Packages, not sure who is delivering but they are putting them on the front porch, BUT on the end closest to the driveway not at the door... God Forbid 25 feet more to the front door.

Overall USPS is the only one that doesn't ship to my Rural Route Front Door.

We ended up putting a sticker on the front door that says "all deliveries to side door" with an arrow after we had a couple packages get rained on because they got put out there and we never use that door.

I had a package ordered and paid extra for express delivery, because I was leaving town and needed whatever it was I had ordered.
It didn't get there on time.
I put a plastic waterproof Rubbermaid box in the back of my spare pickup with a sign; "UPS leave package here." When I got back three weeks later the package was sitting on my doorstep. He had walked right past my truck to get to the house.

Funny !

We have had eight boxes delivered for Christmas presents in the last week.
Most by UPS, these were delivered to the back door as requested, and the driver knocked on the door.
The Amazon Boxes, I never saw a Truck, the boxes were piled on the end front porch, closest to the driveway, twenty feet more and they could have been placed next to the front door, WTF... (sorry), twenty feet, is this just plain laziness or is that really considered a delivery. I can't even say who did it... we are done for the season except for one package that is coming today from Target and UPS Delivery, it should end up on the back steps.
Although, we had a package from Chewy.com, they pick and chose their delivery service, usually a plain truck and I do not know they are. For the first time the package was delivered to the back door, as it is requested on the label, which clearly states "Please Deliver to the Back Door" ! That was a first, usually who ever Chewy uses, places it at the closest door to the driveway... which is the garage main entrance... !

I know I get aggravated over the little things, but if the label says please do this, or the front door is twenty feet away... show a little effort and go the extra step.

OK, enough said by me, ya right, I thought all of the Delivery Service were just out to get me... LoL, and were delivering MY packages to places in my area for a game of Go-Find !

Your lucky.
They tied my package onto my roadside garbage bin.
(good thing it was trash day or it would probably be gone b4 tomorrow)

I think of delivery service providers with tractor brands. It's not the color or name on the vehicle that matters as much as the Dealer or Driver that you deal with. That point of contact (dealer and driver) make all the difference in the world. We're blessed with excellent regular drivers from UPS and USPS (and occasionally FedEx). They know us, and what we expect. I keep my drive and turn around area cleared in the winter, and the potholes filled. They, more times than not, back up to the house and park for a break when they deliver. They chat for a few minutes about if it's a good day or bad, stories about odd deliveries, and even their families. We treat them well, and they take care of us with our deliveries. We start with the Golden Rule, and we've been lucky to have most people reciprocate.

Wow on the Dumpster... we are living in the age of "Make it easy for me"; this applies to everything. It used to be the Doctor office would do all of the insurance paperwork, get any referrals needed, and even set up an appointment with another doctor if needed. Now-a-days, they do the referral and then tell you to contact the referred doctor.
Even, as another Threads states, the Large Department Hardware/Lumber Store, the Grocery Store, all putting in Self-Check out, "Make it easy for me" not the customer. I don't mind doing the Self Checkout IF... I got a slight discount for using their machine, but nothing, just increase my profits that is all they can think of.

Thinking on it, it all boils don't to GREED, either greed for money, power, less to do, and almost any and all other things !

I had a package delivered to the entrance of my driveway, so the driver said, it is over a 1/4 mile away from my house, but the driver said it was delivered to my house. Never found it, walked around the house and barn a few times, hoping those little gremlins had hidden it from me, LoL !
Oh ya, how do I know it was delivered to the end of the driveway, I found a large box blowing in the wind in the lower area of my property. Had all the right numbers on it; I called Amazon, all they said was they are sending replacements. Kudos to Amazon and I got the replacements fast, so the ending was good, not a love story but still good.
Amazon did replace everything but there were some nice Gun accessories in that package, someone got an early Christmas that year.

Piloon, Did you find the package attached to the Track Dumpster ?
Funny how these Delivery People think; I would not have done that for any reason, maybe say it was undeliverable but at least get it to the house.
I think one of the problems is these GPS Devices, the they say "You are there" that is all the Driver's think about, no common sense !
