Would it be ok to remove my FEL and use the joist stick to operate rear attachments, I.e. Pull behind brush mower to raise and lower the unit with the hyd lift cylinder?

Yes, you can run other equipment with the joy stick. Just use caution when running the hoses to the rear to prevent them from catching or rubbing on something.

Out of couriosity if I put the lever in float will it run a wood splitters two way motion?

No, there is no flow of oil in the float position. But you can bungee the joystick to keep the flow going and use the valve that's on most 3PH splitters.
