Using a tractor for wireless Internet installation

There are a bunch of videos coming out with kids climbing super tall buildings freehand, but at the end of the day, this video is the most interesting and sweat inducing to me

Yeah, I have climbed plenty of 100 foot towers freehand, but that video made me a bit queasy. Yeah, I know you are probably dead from 100 foot too, but up there climbing that TV tower than the antenna.. no thanks... I will leave that to someone else, even when I was in my prime.

I made my present tower a tilt over. I think my big tower climbing days are over.

Someone on another forum asked about this, so I thought I'd update the post. Approaching a year later and uptime on the wireless link has been 99.95%. I have yet to move it over to a concrete base, since we plan on building a house in front of the pole location next spring where the radio could mount on the peak of the house on a short antenna pole.

The only downtime I had was from a problem with the cable. I installed a temporary non-direct-burial Cat5 that went from the house all the way up the pole, which passed away in short order. This required taking the scissor lift up to the top to replace it. In hindsight, if I did this again I would build the ground bracket with a heavy duty hinge, so that I could lower it with the forks or winch it down to the ground for maintenance... but fortunately I have the 50' scissor lift.

I did bury two Cat6 direct burial, as well as a 14-2 UF to the pole this summer with a cable layer attachment I built for my sub-soiler.

My Internet problems no longer exist :)

It's a good feeling when a problem is solved... thanks for the update!
