hey guys i need some exuses for me to get my dad to buy a front end loader for my tractor even though we dont need one

I stand in the FEL with a pole chainsaw and have my son drive me to the low growing/dead tree branches to cut them. There too tall for me to reach with the pole chainsaw but the FEL get's me right up there. Endless uses for a FEL. I can't imagine having a tractor without one.

Loaders are great for many, many things.

However, you don't need and excuse. You need to pay for it yourself. Just a dad of 4 kids opinion.

Two words: pallet forks. Yeah, the bucket is great, don't get me wrong, but pallet forks are where it's at. Go get you a bunch of pallets and start cleaning up all your crap! It'll totally change the way you run your farm, estate, whatever. Forks are also great for moving logs/trees and big piles of brush.

I have the 200cx loader on my 2520 and bought a set of Artillian forks with 42" forks. VERY reasonably priced, VERY well built, and Chris (owner, manufacturer) is an awesome guy to work with - stands behind his products 100%.

Very first task I used my forks for was to lift my almost new riding mower into the back of the pickup truck of the guy that bought it. The second task was lifting my almost new walk-behind snowblower for the same reasons.

:)

I use my forks ALL the time. My wife was totally confused as to why I bought the forks. She now regularly says "you use those things all the time, don't you?" every time I do something outside with them.

It's MUCH easier to stack loose branches / limbs on forks than trying to stuff them in a bucket. And I stack all of my firewood on pallets and move it around like that as well. I also lift my mowing deck with the forks to clean it underneath, check the blades, and even sharpen them. I'll be using them to move the snowmobiles now too, and put them up off the ground for storage. The uses are endless.

It is great for lifting concrete mix into the mixer, moving mulch around the yard, moving top soil into the wife's raised flour bed, putting sand into the grand daughters sand box, lifting the garbage cans into the pickup truck, attaching the rake to the front end and raking the field, putting the wood fired pizza oven onto the deck........I could go on all night. I love my FEL ... My Kubota would be naked without it!

Oddly enough... I use mine load and unload stuff. Tonight, it was instrumental in the unloading the No. 7 backhoe I purchased from a CraigsList ad.

For a minute I thought I had just witnessed the rigging of a backhoe to a front end loader

in a phrase,
"Too many". A farm/property maintenance tractor without a FEL is is like a hammer without nails. The bad part is they tend, at least on bigger older tractors, to be hard on the machine itself. On a newer small tractor, that is designed for a FEL I would NEVER GO WITHOUT ONE...(and I rarely say never).

Regards, Matt.

I constantly use my loader for down trees, to load lime into my spreader, level dirt piles, move stumps, as a platform for work, to carry heavy tools, to erect deer stands, to mount snow plow, and so much more....even for front ballast. What's not to like?

It's interesting you mounting that dozer blade to your loader. I have always heard that the loader arms are not really made for dozer-type work, and that's asking to bend them. Obviously you don't think so. :D Any comments on that?

Doing dozer work with a front end loader is asking for trouble. If your moving light material like snow or wood chips, or very loose dirt that blows away in the wind, it isn't such a big deal. Bulldozer arms are flat, not curved, and very thick, and have a ton of supporting structures in place for one reason, you NEED that much strength when your pushing a almost flat face against the ground, and trying to push material over long distances.

What you have to remember is when you push a bucket into material, the resistance is actually quite small. Only the outer edges of the bucket and the bottom lip are actually pushing material, and they are less than 1/4'' thick. A bulldozer blade is pushing material, a bucket accepts material until it is full.

Obviously you CAN get dozer blades, but I suggest leaving those for the light work.

A dozer is used for dirt. A "snow blade" (snow plow) is used for snow......and that's what I describe and show in the pic. I do use my loader to hold my custom mounted Meyer Snow Plow. This is a reasonably lightweight plow that was commonly used on Jeeps. Lots of guys do this....and if your reasonable with the blade you wont cause any ill-effects to the loader. I do not use it to push dirt.

Thanks. I mis-identified the implement.

Thanks. I mis-identified the implement.

The pic I show probably misleads. The pic was taken when fitting it for the first time. No snow available for any of my snow blade pics....and a little dirt hanging on the blade from trying my pipe "float" on the edge of the blade.

I think one could level some light fill material if you would keep the blade straight with the loader arms..but I got better tools for that task. Easy to assume dirt moving....I recon.....but not for me. :D
