Ford 1720 SSS 4x4 Turbo Charged
Does anyone have problems with unwanted symbols being inserted after they write a post and spell check it?
Below is a recent example of what happens when I post a spell checked post.
This requires me to correct spelling again after I post it.
I also have problems using the back arrow button after I open & read a forum, I usually have to hit the back arrow several times to get back to the main page.
This only happens on tractorbynet.

I have a Ford 1720 which for me is perfect in all respects except HP.
I installed a turbo last year after quite a few years of thinking of a bigger tractor & wanting more HP but reality set in as not being affordable.
So a new bigger tractor was not going to happen for me.
I happened to find a turbo at a swap meet which looked to be the right size so I bought it.
It now has the extra power I致e always wanted without the added size & weight of a bigger tractor.
It has considerably more hp to muscle thru tough sections when mowing or snow-blowing and will generate 10 psi boost but I limit it to 4~5 psi for continuous operation.
There are photos of my turbo installation in the review section under Ford 1720.
This tractor has a 1.5 liter (90 ci) engine that originally put out 27 hp gross!
I知 quite sure it isn稚 being stressed even if it痴 now generating 40 hp.
Now it better fits my needs.
Could it fail possibly; but if it breaks I値l fix it!

You ask;
Why would you want to put a turbo on a tractor? Just buy a bigger tractor with more hp.

I値l ask why not? Perhaps money is an issue or perhaps the tractor is perfect except for hp.
The 1990 Dodge Diesel pickup originally generated 160hp. Just changing the turbo and increasing the fuel rate they can reliably generate over 600hp.

Are you doing your original post in Word, then cutting/pasting it into TBN? That could cause the problem. If you do that, I've seen you have to "Preview Post" and make some manual corrections. This mainly occurs when using words containing apostrophies like don't, I'll, couldn't, etc.

Pasting into notepad first seems to clean this up. YMMV though.

I echo what the others have said. :)

I've seen this happen when copying/pasting from another webpage (news article etc).

I'm having the same problem with the back button. It gets pretty annoying when I keep stabbing that button and then it jumps back 2 or 3 pages. :confused2: TBN is the only site I have this problem with and it seemed to start about the same time as the problem with the thread subscription notices.

Increase the size allocated to your browser cache. And reboot.

 Are you serious? I just learned how to turn on a computer a few years ago. I don't have a clue what a browser cache is and reboot is what I do before I wade through the mud to the outhouse. Off to see The Geek Squad again.

So, there’s no way to fix the symbols? This is the only place I’ve ever seen it happen. Not a huge deal I guess, but very annoying.

The goofy symbols indicate a font problem. Try pasting the test into a text-based editor like notepad. Using Word will not change the font to the default font, which will fix the symbol problem.

I use Firefox which has an integrated spell check, so there is no need to type into another document. Explorer also has a spell check you can down load, but it is not automatic.

So this site requires the font to be an exact match? What is that font? I normally first type in Outlook, then copy and paste. I don't intend to change that, but I can change the font in Outlook easily if I knew what it needed to be. This is a very strage site as far as posting goes. There are no options for text font, size, underline, etc... No smileys, nothing. Does it look this way for everyone?

Look at your settings in http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions.
The section labeled "Thread Display Options" lets you choose if images, smilies, etc show up when browsing.
To get rich text, change the drop down box in the "Message Editor Interface" section to Standard Editor or Enhanced Interface.

So why do we have to hit the back button up to four times?

Regarding multiple <back> clicks: I've been using the Google Chrome browser for several years and love it! Does nearly everything better than IE or Firefox although I do use those for specific tasks too. Give it a try.

Hey, that's where the time zone can be changed. Sweet. And WYSIWY. I don't know why I never looked for this. :confused3:
