Just an observation about ULSD (Ultra Low Sulpher Diesel). Beginning January 2007 this is the only Diesel Fuel that will be available, it is already being phased in since this is the only fuel that 2007 model year vehicles can use due to new emissions equipment on these vehicles. It basically equates to the days when catalitic converters were first used on cars, couldn't use leaded fuel. Anyway the reason I write is that because of the removal of the sulpher from the fuel the lubricity of the fuel is much lower thus causing problems with fuel systems because of a lack of lubrication. This is the only fuel that I am using in my 18 wheeler and have noticed lower mpg and power, can't get as much power out of the new fuel. All of the reports and articles I have read said this would happen. We are having to add additives to the fuel to restore the lubricity so that we don't burn up motors. Some distributors are putting additives in before they drop it in the ground, I would suggest that when you start using this fuel that you add an additive this really isn't a bad thing to do anyway since diesel attracts water. Wouldn't want to hear about someone burning up their motor because of poor lubrication. If your diesel pumps are labeled that the fuel is approved for 2007 vehicles it is ULSD. I do not know if this applies to off road fuel. Lucas makes good additive but is spendy about $22. a gallon and treats 400gal. Howes is very good also about $9. for a half gal and treats 750 gal in summer about half that in winter since amounts are doubled in winter to prevent fuel gelling.
