I don't know what species of grass you're referring to that has no leaves but the type of grass hay I've custom baled down here in Texas for over 30 years has leaves. I personally don't like to rake grass hay more than one time.
Yeah, I was kinda baffled by that comment, too.
Grass hay has blades running up the stems that shatter if you tedder them too aggressively. Like you said, even raking can shatter grass hay leaves.

TX Jim, it’s good to hear from you. I loved my trip to Texas and miss the fine people and the Brisket haha.

Thanks for the shout out. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Texas. IMHO too many people are coming to Texas for a visit & then not going back home!

Too bad we can't have an application process for residency.

I have those exact same feelings about some of the people coming to Florida. 😁

Now you know how us Californians felt 50 years ago.

Is it too late to wrap the wet hay and make balage out of it? It is only going mouldy becuse air can get at it. Wrapping will seal the air out and allow fermentation to make balage
(Balage is too wet for hay and to dry for proper silage).
