Tym 273 glow plugs

What were the conditions that it started hard in before? How does it start now?
Any smoking or does it burn really clean now (for a diesel anyway)?

i don't think smoking or clean burn have much to do with glowplugs,probably injectors. mine eats injectors for some reason.

If you can't find the P/n in your manual. Look up Grow Prugs. ( I'm dead serious that is how we have had to find a few in the manuals) :duh:

I believe that the warning is for using a booster while the glow plugs are activated.

I have always cycled the plugs before trying to start ( unless it's warm of course). The dealer, when dropping off my unit, told me to crank it while the plugs were "lit." I waited the extra few seconds for the light to go out, and then started it. I may be wrong, but it's the way I was taught...

Thoughts anyone?

The plugs heat up fairly quick. ( and they cool down just a tick slower) They draw a lot of amps too. As soon as the light goes out I usually fire it up. This way I know the plugs have reached full temp. Its not going to hurt by counting 1-2-3 and firing it up while the lights lit.

As far as ALKYS question. Use common sense procedures whenever jump starting a vehicle. Turn the key on and let the the glow plugs run through their cycle, Then apply boost amperage. Remember to turn off the boost when you turn the key off. This would apply to just about anything with a glow plug circuit that is automatically activated by the ignition circuit. ( most newer tractors/ trucks)

Thx for the info. It's pretty much as I thought. I always thought that waiting until the cycles complete and hitting the starter immediately was the way to go...

I just picked up the cutter today. Appears to be a beast compared to my old KK 5-footer.

Once it warms up ( supposed to get some snow tomorrow... ), I'll hook it up and post a few pics!

Hello, After reading this I double checked in the operators manual for my tractor ( T330hst ) which is the earlier model of your T353 and it says after the glow plug light goes out to start the tractor. I thought it sounded wrong to start it when it was lit as part of the voltage is used to charge the glow plugs which will drop the voltage the starter has to use.
