Power-Trac motorcycle with hydraulic steering and hydraulic all (both?) wheel drive and front-mounted quick-attach...Hmmm...what could possibly go wrong?

WARNING! My security software blocked an attack from that web site!

I am pretty security minded and I have no issue. It was linked out of gizmodo which is quite reputable in not putting up malware sites.

Some large entities subscribe to a blackhat list that can often have reasonable sites on it. I used to wrestle with it at a prior employer. I think that some sites co-hosted with others would get tagged with the address and blocked.

I had no issues getting in, FWIW.

Norton Internet Security showed an alert: "Norton has blocked an attack from a malicious DNS server!" A malicious domain name server might switch the IP address to point to a modified or subverted copy of the web site you were seeking.

I just accessed the site again an received the same alert message. Unless your computer is using an Intrusion Detection System like the one that is part on NIS, you would not receive an alert or any indication of a penetration attempt. The web site can be access normally.

I suggest you run you virus and spyware scanner as a precaution.

So I did a deep search.... The link I provided is off of gizmodo, so it has a re-direct. Norton is warning you you are being sent to a page different than the one you clicked. in this case harmless (IMO), but a good detector if you would be asked to change your password illegally or something like that.

How does this work for you Clumber?

No alerts with that URL. Glad to see there were no problems with the site.

Intrusion detection / prevention components use a data base of patterns collected from past malicious incidents. It's not a precise science so there are false positives from time to time.
