I am pretty sure I have read online somewhere that the fixed twine knife on the old new holland balers can be replaced with a new bolt on knife by drilling out the rivets. Is this correct ? If so where do you pick up this knife and bolt kit. Thanks

Your's are probably rivetted on. Pull the knife arm, grind off the rivet head, punch out the rivet body, replace with new knife using fasteners provided. Save the old knife, It can usually be sharpened and put back into service.

Knife kits from any parts dealer. Look around. I'd guess that cutoff knives are universal amongst just about all makes and models of balers. While you are putting it back together, make sure the wiper arm scrapes the heel of the bill hook. Otherwise you are facing knotter problems. You bend the wiper arm to get this contact.

I just put 6 knife kits in the parts bin at work last week. Any New Holland dealer that sells parts for balers should have knife kits on the shelf.

My new holland dealer is pretty far away so I was just going to order from Messicks's. Looks like the NH 273 shows a removable knife kit. I am pretty sure that should fit.

I called my new holland dealer and they told me there was not a bolt on knife that would fit a 68 hayliner. Said they could sell me a knife arm.
