A friend sent me the link to this website. It has a hydro axe and an ASV clearing some woods. It made me think of you guys and your discussion of the different heads and machines.

The video is about 4 minutes long and allot of fun to watch.

I noticed that the cutter head is not as wide as the ASV therefore could that mean more track issues? I would think you would want to cut a path at least as wide as the widest width as the equipment you are using.

Remeber that. That is a major factor in track life. That's why I like my 73" wide cut so much. I've also heard the tushogg is even heavier than my timberax. Too heavy!!! Also heard it leaves very large shreads .

I called that company...the smallest one they make requires at least 70 HP, weighs 2400# and cost $24,000. WOW!

It's not really a big problem if the machine is offset to either side. Drawback is that you'll allways have to open up a brush from either left or right side, depending on to which side the machine is off center.

For the 9000 model they mention this:
"Offset cut allows for tire protection and close-in work"

I'm not sure it's a BIG issue. Many manufactures make heads that have less than 69" cut width.
