You and Westro are both wrong. Adding boost pressure to a normally aspirated diesel will increase HP more often than not. And more complete burn will also increase efficiency more often than not. I've been around too long not to know this for certain.

I will concede, I believe that adding a turbo and not increasing the fueling will increase horse power under load. The extra air will help during the times you 'normally' would see some black smoke, the turbo with the extra air would take care of that.

So yes, leaving everything stock, I should see an increase in economy and HP by adding a turbo. Please let me know if my thinking is correct. If this is the case I would like to keep the fueling stock and simply see what boost alone does to economy and HP before I experiment with extra fuel.

How can you know this for certain but in the previous sentence say "more often than not"? :D

If that's all it takes to get better fuel economy Then every engine should have one, car, boat, lawnmower, leaf blower!

I've been around trees all my life....but I still can't tell which is which! :D :D
