I havent been on here in awhile due to working on my latest project for the last couple of months and I finally got it done so I thought I'd share some pics.

The truck is a 1985 Dodge W350 with dana 60's, 35x16x16.5 boggers, and a custom 203-205 double transfer case.

Here's how we started:

Rebuilt the trans and transfer cases. I had to notch the bellhousing for the crank trigger, and grind the weight off the torque converter because the 5.9L's have the weight on the flexplate

The final figures work out to be 20000lbs dump force to a 48.5* angle.

It is a bit more force than I had in mind when I was first sketching but once the fabbing started I was able to get the pivots in better locations than I anticipated resulting in about 3x's the force I really need. Which isn't a bad thing because the pump will only develop enough force to do the work, which will be about 1000psi. So I shouldn't have to worry about blowing any hoses anytime soon.

I also forgot to add that the pump runs about 4.8gpm @ 3000psi, which is 2000 truck rpm. It takes 16 sec to full raise but about 2 min to come down, due to not being a power down(which I may change because the DCV has a port for that that I just blocked) so All I would need is about another 25 ft of hoses and fittings.

The Hyd resivoir is a 3 gal that I put 2.5 gal in ( my tractor takes 7.5 gal so it works out perfect fo 2 buckets)

The pump is ran off the AC clutch so it doesn't run but only to dump so I only need enough fluid to fill the cyls.

I have larned once you have a dump you seem to have more friends, you know what same goes with a tractor. i have people calling me already for next year.

Very impressive LD1. When I looked at the first post I thought, "there's a truck I'd put an engine and a flat bed on and use around the place". After another post or two I found out that's exactly what you did and more. Nice dump system as well! Personally, on a work truck I like a stick shift but to each their own.:D

Thanks for all the kind remarks so far.


The truck actually used to be a stick, but at one time I had a plow on it and an auto is a lot better for that purpose. I also swapped due to the 203-205 double t-case setup. The only tranny I had that would hook to the 203, which is the t-case that is first in-line, was the 727. All me NP standards were hooked straight to the 205's.

That truck came out great, Its screaming for a cummins though , did you add lockers in the rears ? What a difference they make ! Anyway great job!

Not lockers but a Dana trac-loc posi in both the front and rear
